The role of the Head Chef at JOEY Restaurants is crucial to the success of each establishment. This is a full-time, on-site position with an annual salary range between $85,000 and $125,000, reflecting the candidate’s experience and other objective factors. The Head Chef is primarily responsible for leading the kitchen team to deliver consistently outstanding culinary experiences that create lasting memories for guests. This role requires overseeing all kitchen operations, including managing labor budgets and maintaining high standards for cleanliness and safety throughout the restaurant. A Head Chef takes on a coaching and mentoring role, motivating and inspiring the culinary team to continuously learn and develop their skills while maintaining a collaborative and positive work environment.

Key responsibilities include supporting the preparation of ingredients and food products, utilizing various cooking methods to ensure menu items adhere to JOEY's exacting recipe standards, and maintaining sanitary conditions in all kitchen areas. The Head Chef must also manage inventory and storage effectively, ensuring refrigerators, ovens, and preparation areas are clean and well-maintained. Recruitment and retention of kitchen staff fall within this position’s remit, along with fostering team development through training on technical skills and culinary execution. Communicating clear daily goals and feedback, managing food and labor costs within budget, and upholding all food handling safety standards are essential components of the role. Job Duties

  • Support your team in the preparation of all ingredients and food products to fulfill prep lists, par levels, and recipe standards
  • Utilize various preparation and cooking methods to ensure the quick, precise creation of our menu items in accordance with JOEY recipes
  • Maintain prep and cooking areas in a clean, sanitary and safe manner
  • Ensure clean, organized, and maintained refrigerators, cooler drawers, ovens, preparation, and dry storage areas
  • Train partners on the instructions and guidelines for safe usage of kitchen equipment and cleaning compounds
  • Fulfill recruitment needs, impact positive candidate experiences, and select and retain your team
  • Support your team in training and development of technical knowledge and world-class execution of JOEY tasks and standards
  • Communicate daily focus and feedback to partners
  • Manage in-store budgets, food costs, and labor
  • Impact the delivery of Iconic Hospitality and coach the kitchen team as needed to fulfill experience standards for our guests
  • Follow all food service and handling safety precautions and procedures
