Job Requirements

  • Three or more years of professional culinary experience in a fast-paced, high-volume kitchen
  • Minimum one year of supervisory or management experience
  • Demonstrated knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices
  • Proficiency with software and applications for data tracking and reporting
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • ServeSafe Certificate within 90 days of hire
  • Ability to work Monday through Friday approximately 6:00 AM to 3:00 PM
  • Commitment to improving nutrition and health in schools

Job Qualifications

  • Three or more years of professional culinary experience in a fast-paced, high-volume kitchen
  • One or more years of supervisory or management experience
  • Bachelor degree in culinary arts is a plus
  • Demonstrated knowledge of proper food safety and sanitation practices
  • Comfortable using software, apps, and spreadsheets for data tracking and reporting
  • Excellent communication skills and strong organizational abilities
  • Familiarity with National School Lunch Program (NSLP) compliance is a plus
  • Passion for improving nutrition and health in schools
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus
  • ServeSafe Certificate required within 90 days of hire with reimbursement available

Job Duties

  • Direct daily culinary execution and maintain a food-safe kitchen
  • Perform quality control on all menu items ensuring recipe consistency and integrity
  • Manage food costs through disciplined inventory control and creative menu planning
  • Train, coach, and develop kitchen team members creating a supportive and cohesive work environment
  • Adhere to production schedules and track, submit consumption data and compliance reports
  • Oversee facility maintenance and kitchen equipment projects
  • Build and maintain relationships with the school community including teachers, administrators, and parents
  • Conduct culinary and nutrition presentations to educate the school community
