The Head Chef role at Snooze in Chattanooga is a crucial leadership position responsible for maintaining the highest culinary standards and managing all aspects of kitchen operations. This full-time position offers an attractive compensation package including a $1,000 sign-on bonus (conditions apply) and a competitive salary with additional bonus incentives. The role includes the opportunity to participate in the Snooze Sunny Side Up Management Bonus Program, which can enable Head Chefs to earn up to 15% of their annual base salary. Furthermore, exceptional performance may lead to extra bonuses, including a potential $3,000 in additional performance bonuses and a unique long-term incentive program that rewards loyalty and excellence with a $25,000 cash bonus, paid time off, and experience dollars after five years of service.

As a Head Chef, you will be entrusted with ensuring that every dish meets the signature Snooze standards, overseeing food purchasing, preparation, storage, and overall kitchen sanitation and safety. You will lead by example, training the kitchen team in cooking techniques, plate presentation, portion control, and cost management. Staffing and scheduling fall under your purview to optimize productivity while controlling labor costs efficiently. Beyond operational responsibilities, the role emphasizes fostering a creative, educational, and supportive environment that inspires growth for all kitchen employees. Your leadership will be vital to maintaining the “WOW” factor in Snooze’s food offerings and delivering a memorable dining experience for every guest.

Job Requirements

  • Must be 21 years of age or older
  • authorized to work in the United States
  • able to stand for up to 10 hours per day
  • able to work 50 to 55 hours per week
  • strong physical stamina
  • committed to safety and sanitation guidelines
  • able to communicate clearly with staff and management

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of operations and leadership experience in food service
  • proficient knowledge of food, beverage, and service standards
  • strong basic math skills
  • ability to operate cash registers and POS systems
  • effective communication skills in the predominant language(s) of the local area
  • experience in training and mentoring kitchen staff
  • demonstrated ability to manage food and labor costs
  • knowledge of kitchen safety, sanitation, and equipment maintenance protocols

Job Duties

  • Lead all kitchen functions including food purchasing, storage, and inventory management
  • oversea food preparation ensuring adherence to quality, safety, and sanitation standards
  • train kitchen staff in cooking methods, plate presentation, and portion control
  • schedule and staff kitchen operations efficiently to maintain labor costs
  • monitor and control food and labor costs through proper requisition and scheduling
  • administer corrective action in line with company policies
  • maintain kitchen equipment cleanliness and perform preventative maintenance
  • prepare reports, inventory forms, and schedules in a timely manner
  • foster a fun, safe, and rewarding work environment
  • promote safety and sanitation procedures among staff
