Job Description

The Theta Beta chapter of Tri Delta at the University of Colorado Boulder is a prestigious collegiate sorority committed to fostering a welcoming and supportive environment for its members. Tri Delta, also known as Delta Delta Delta, is a national organization known for its dedication to philanthropy, leadership, and sisterhood. The chapter at this university upholds these values while providing an exceptional living experience for its 68 residents and house director. The sorority's residential facility serves as a hub for academic growth, social development, and community engagement, making it vital to have a dependable culinary team that ensures nutritious, tasteful, and diverse meal options tailored to the unique needs of its collegiate members.

The Head Chef role at Tri Delta's Theta Beta chapter is a full-time, hourly, and seasonal position based on-site. The successful candidate will lead the kitchen operations by planning, preparing, and delivering all meals served at the chapter house. This includes a continental breakfast bar as well as hot lunch and dinner offerings. Managing the kitchen's cleanliness, safety, and sanitary conditions is crucial to maintain a first-class environment that supports the health and wellbeing of all residents. The Head Chef will have direct supervision by the House Director and will oversee a small kitchen team that consists of a Sous Chef, Kitchen Assistant, and several Dining Assistants. This supervisory responsibility entails not only culinary leadership but also staff coordination and development.

Working with Tri Delta means joining a mission-driven culture that values a positive work environment and upholds the standards of the sorority. The schedule is designed around a typical 40-hour workweek, Monday to Friday from 9 am to 6 pm, with a midday break. The position also offers paid vacation and holidays at 40 hours per semester and includes comprehensive benefits such as health insurance covering medical, dental, and vision, retirement plans, and life insurance. The job is seasonal, aligned with the university's academic calendar, providing work only when the university is in session, allowing for balanced professional and personal life.

The ideal candidate for the Head Chef role is an experienced culinary professional with at least five years of relevant experience, capable of managing large-scale meal planning and kitchen operations. They must be adept at accommodating dietary restrictions, ensuring meals meet nutritional requirements while catering to various food allergies and preferences among residents. The chef will be responsible for maintaining compliance with all health and safety regulations, overseeing inventory management, and fostering a positive relationship with the kitchen staff and chapter members. Strong communication and organizational skills are essential, as is the ability to work independently while aligning with Tri Delta's core values and community standards. This role promises a dynamic and rewarding experience for culinary leaders who thrive in fast-paced, community-centered environments and are passionate about contributing to a collegiate living experience that champions health, safety, and camaraderie.
