Job Description
Five Iron Golf is a dynamic and innovative company backed by industry leaders Callaway Golf and Danny Meyer's Enlightened Hospitality Investments. Specializing in sports bars, restaurants, and entertainment venues, Five Iron Golf combines world-class technology with hospitality-driven service to create a unique and memorable guest experience. With 35 locations currently open and more than 50 planned globally, the brand is in a significant growth phase, expanding its reach while maintaining strong values centered around innovation, inclusivity, and community connection. The organization prides itself on blending technology with a commitment to outstanding service, fostering environments where guests can enjoy exceptional dining and entertainment in welcoming and vibrant spaces.
The role of Head Chef at Five Iron Golf is an integral leadership position responsible for managing the entire culinary operation within their locations. This full-time exempt position offers compensation ranging from $53,000 to $57,000 annually and requires working during nights and weekends to meet the demands of the business. The Head Chef leads and mentors a high-performing kitchen team focused on delivering exceptional guest experiences through high-quality and innovative culinary offerings. This role involves continual menu evaluation and improvement, with a keen eye on creating dishes that deliver both value and quality, especially for events and individual dining experiences.
Beyond culinary creativity, the Head Chef is entrusted with ensuring that kitchen operations run effectively, efficiently, and within budget. This responsibility extends to managing inventory, purchasing, scheduling, and compliance with food safety standards. Additionally, the Head Chef collaborates closely with the General Manager - Social and the VP of Culinary to align kitchen operations with broader business goals, including managing food and labor costs and successfully executing a variety of events. The ability to foster a culture of accountability and hospitality within the kitchen team is paramount, encouraging clear communication, teamwork, and professional development among all kitchen staff, including Sous Chefs.
With a strong emphasis on innovation, the Head Chef continually updates the event menus to reflect current culinary trends and guest preferences while preserving Five Iron Golf’s brand identity. The role also involves developing and testing new recipes to ensure quality and cost-effectiveness, partnering with the beverage program to create complementary food and drink pairings, and designing high-quality culinary offerings for corporate functions, private parties, and special occasions. The Head Chef is responsible for maintaining exceptional standards of food presentation and service, directly contributing to the memorable dining experiences that define Five Iron Golf’s reputation.
In addition to culinary leadership, the Head Chef serves as a brand ambassador, representing Five Iron Golf at industry events and within the community, reinforcing the company’s commitment to diversity and inclusivity. Five Iron Golf values equal employment opportunity and provides reasonable accommodations as required, fostering a workplace culture that supports employees from all backgrounds. This role is ideal for culinary leaders passionate about food innovation, team leadership, and delivering outstanding guest experiences in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
