Job Description

Patrick Properties Hospitality Group (PPHG) is a renowned hospitality company specializing in managing a portfolio of historic venues across multiple locations. With a commitment to providing exceptional event experiences, PPHG focuses on delivering outstanding customer service, meticulous event operations, and high-quality food and beverage services. The company is widely recognized for its attention to detail, dedication to operational excellence, and team-driven culture that promotes growth and continuous improvement among its employees. PPHG venues set a high standard for event hosting, blending historic charm with modern amenities to create memorable occasions for guests.

The role of Head Bartender at PPHG is a crucial supervisory and operational position responsible for managing the bartending team during events at the company’s historic venues. This part-time role reports directly to the Director of Events and Event Managers and requires a candidate with extensive knowledge of cocktail recipes, bar tools, and beverage products. The Head Bartender is charged with overseeing all aspects of beverage service, including setup, service, breakdown, and inventory management during events. The position demands flexibility, as shifts can occur on nights, weekends, weekdays, and occasional holidays. The company provides a monthly schedule created by the Staffing Manager with opportunities to sign up for additional shifts.

In this leadership role, the Head Bartender acts as the key holder for liquor rooms and walk-in coolers and ensures compliance with responsible alcohol service policies, continually monitoring guest consumption. Responsibilities include preparing specialty cocktails, instructing bartenders on new recipes, restocking bars, and preventing waste, especially with wine service. The Head Bartender supports event readiness by proactively reviewing beverage needs for upcoming events and escalating any concerns to management.

Beyond operational duties, the Head Bartender supervises and mentors the bartending staff by providing ongoing training and enforcing company policies such as prohibiting tip jars and the serving of shots or doubles. Strong leadership skills and communication are necessary to maintain a cohesive team environment and to handle any incidents professionally. Additionally, the Head Bartender is responsible for the organization and cleanliness of the beverage room, managing inventory logs, and ensuring proper security and storage of all beverage supplies after events.

This position requires a hands-on leader capable of juggling multiple tasks in a fast-paced, dynamic event setting. The ideal candidate must demonstrate attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to manage and motivate staff effectively. Physical stamina to stand for long periods, lift up to 30 pounds, and the ability to work with limited supervision are critical for success. The part-time schedule fits well for individuals seeking to work in a vibrant hospitality environment while gaining event management and leadership experience.
