The role currently available at Kneaders Bakery & Cafe is for a full-time Head Baker. This position is a significant leadership role within the bakery that offers a unique opportunity for an individual passionate about artisan bread baking and quality food production. As the Head Baker, you will lead a dynamic team responsible for producing a variety of delicious breads including artisan, sweet, and seasonal selections, all prepared with attention to detail and using wholesome ingredients. The role demands hands-on baking expertise from following recipes accurately to managing the workflow and maintaining high kitchen standards, especially in environments where lifting heavy ingredients and working long shifts are common. The Head Baker must be adaptable to schedule changes and able to work afternoon and evening shifts, typically from 11 am to 7 pm, including Sundays and occasional overnight shifts during festive periods.
This position requires someone with a proven record of culinary skills—a "superhero" in the kitchen—who can handle the physical demands of the job, such as lifting supplies weighing 50 pounds or more, standing for long periods, and managing the various processes involved in bread and pastry production. The ideal candidate should also demonstrate flexibility, strong leadership qualities, and the ability to maintain consistent quality while navigating a fast-paced and changing bakery environment. Responsible for ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal food safety regulations and sanitation standards, the Head Baker plays a key role in upholding Kneaders Bakery & Cafe's reputation for safe, quality food production.
While formal culinary education is considered a plus, the bakery values hands-on experience and leadership in restaurant or retail food service as essential. Candidates ideally possess at least one year of large-scale baking or pastry experience but enthusiastic individuals looking to grow in this field may also be considered. Job Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Proven hands-on baking skills
