The role of Head Baker at TOASTED, based at Jaded Bagels in Lake City, Seattle, is pivotal to maintaining the company's standards of product excellence. This position involves owning the entire baked goods production process, with a particular emphasis on bagels, which are the heart of the menu. The Head Baker is responsible for ensuring the quality, consistency, and volume of every baked item produced in the central hub for distribution to all store locations. This role includes managing and mentoring assistant bakers, contributing to product development by creating new bagel varieties and baked goods, and ensuring operational standards are met through adherence to standard operating procedures. The Head Baker plays a crucial role in shaping the overall bakery production strategy, maintaining inventory coordination with the Hub Production Manager, and leading the bakery team to success. This full-time position offers an annual salary ranging from $65,280 to $72,960 and includes benefits such as health, dental, and vision insurance after 90 days, along with two weeks of paid time off per year. It requires a commitment to early morning shifts and a passion for baking excellence and team leadership.

Job Requirements

  • 5 or more years of professional baking or bakery production experience
  • Strong knowledge of bread and bagel production, fermentation, and shaping
  • Food handler certification or ability to obtain before start
  • Reliable, punctual, and comfortable with early morning production shifts
  • Experience training or overseeing junior bakery staff

Job Duties

  • Lead daily bagel and baked goods production for all store locations
  • Ensure production volume, quality, and consistency meet store requirements every day
  • Maintain quality control for all baked goods leaving the hub
  • Develop new bagel varieties as the menu evolves
  • Develop new baked goods products as the menu evolves
  • Oversee and develop lead bakers and assistant bakers
  • Manage bakery inventory with support from the Hub Production Manager
  • Follow and help maintain SOPs for all bakery production processes
