We are currently seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Lab Technician to join our team during Harvest 2026. This is a full-time, temporary assignment typically lasting from August through November, with schedules designed to accommodate grape processing demands, including weekend work and possible overtime. Located at our facility in Oakville, California, the Lab Technician role is ideal for individuals pursuing or recently graduated with degrees in Food Science, Chemistry, or related fields who are eager to gain hands-on experience in the dynamic wine industry.

As a Lab Technician, you will play a critical role in validating product compliance and adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) through routine and advanced chemical analyses. Your responsibilities will include testing juices, wines, spirits, and other company products to ensure they meet stringent quality standards. You will collaborate closely with the production team, providing timely feedback to drive improvements in processes and product quality. By maintaining rigorous attention to safety protocols and standardized work methods, you will contribute significantly to the efficiency and safety of production operations.

Candidates must be prepared to work in varying environmental conditions, including outdoor settings and warm or cold climates, and should be able to handle physical tasks such as lifting up to 55 pounds safely. The role demands adherence to company policies and procedures, maintaining a clean and sanitary laboratory environment, and contributing positively to overall team goals. Job Requirements

  • Ability to work from August through the end of November
  • Ability to work various shifts including weekends and overtime
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Must be able to sit and/or stand for long periods of time and work on a computer for extended periods
  • Must be able to lift up to 55 lbs
  • Ability to work in warm and cold climates
  • Ability to work outdoors and indoors
  • Ability to work in high places
  • Ability to work on wet surfaces
  • Ability to work near loud noise, fumes and/or toxic chemicals
  • Ability to work near moving mechanical parts and lift truck traffic

Job Qualifications

  • Recent graduate or pursuing a degree in Food Science, Chemistry or related field
  • Strong knowledge of analytical procedures
  • Strong knowledge of mathematics
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to precisely follow directions
  • Experience in computer applications such as Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Previous lab experience
  • Knowledge of various wine types
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks
  • Strong interpersonal skills

Job Duties

  • Learn and follow all laboratory work instructions and safety procedures
  • Standardize equipment as needed and ensure it is working properly
  • Perform accurate routine and advanced chemical and physical analysis on wines, juices, concentrates and other company products
  • Collect samples from tanks and barrels, prepare samples for analysis
  • Prepare reagents and standard solutions
  • Prepare, maintain, and distribute required reports and records
  • Contribute to producing quality products by completing assignments in a safe, efficient and valuable manner
  • Maintain lab cleanliness and a safe, sanitary working environment
  • Compliance with all company policies and procedures
