Job Duties

  • Provide superior customer service
  • take orders from customers by telephone or in person
  • answer customer questions regarding products and assist them with selections
  • prepare, package, and merchandise fresh product effectively
  • slice, package, label, rotate, and cull products for poor quality
  • assist in technical areas as needed such as basic set-up and clean-up processes
  • use suggestive selling techniques and basic product knowledge to meet customer needs and build department sales
  • clean and sanitize display cases
  • operate and maintain equipment properly
  • comply with H-E-B food safety and sanitation standards
  • comply with department and store operating procedures
  • record production and shrink to aid in production planning in bakery
  • assist in baking, frying, and decorating as needed in bakery
  • cull bakery products for poor quality and expiration dates
  • take care of service counter customers in deli
  • use ordering system applications and Fresh Production Planner
  • perform inventory management processes such as MSI and PAW
  • ensure catering orders are prepared and ready for customer pickup if applicable
  • perform all sanitation and maintenance tasks for deli slicers
  • serve and package products at customer’s request in prepared foods
  • educate customers on preparation and reheating instructions
  • prepackage condiments for prepared food items
  • cut, slice, dice, chop food in preparation for chef
