This position is for a Principal Hardware Engineer within Northrop Grumman’s Space Systems Missile Defense Integration segment, specifically supporting the Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) program. Based in Colorado Springs, CO, or Huntsville, AL, the role is integral to supporting the strategic, regional, and operational activities of top national defense leadership including the U.S. President and the Secretary of Defense. This role is on-site with no remote work options and does not provide relocation assistance. It requires an active DoD Secret clearance with the applicant's eligibility to start immediately upon hiring.

The Principal Hardware Engineer will be a key member of the Systems Engineering & Verification (SE&V) Resource Management Area team and will be engaged in the design, development, selection, and procurement support of hardware and network products that are vital to the C2BMC program's mission. The engineer will work closely with hardware architects, bill of materials managers, and various engineering and logistics teams to maintain hardware baseline integrity and develop robust system infrastructure that ensures mission success. This includes managing Bill of Material (BOM) changes, supporting hardware and software evaluations related to end-of-sale and end-of-life product transitions, and participating in technical risk assessments and trade studies.

This position demands a strong understanding of hardware architecture principles, network device selection, procurement processes, and the integration of hardware with software systems, within a defense system environment. The candidate must navigate complex engineering processes, manufacturing standards, and logistics challenges to deliver cutting-edge solutions. They will engage in collaborative efforts across multiple disciplines, leveraging agile methodologies, and contributing to the operational readiness of missile defense systems.

The role offers a competitive salary range from $98,900 to $148,300 annually, with additional incentives such as overtime eligibility, shift differentials, discretionary bonuses, and potential long-term incentives for senior roles.
