Job Description
Hampton Inn and Suites - Minneapolis/Downtown is a premier hotel located in the bustling heart of downtown Minneapolis. We are currently seeking an Assistant General Manager to join our dedicated team. This position is an overtime eligible manager role (OEM), meaning overtime applies and is compensated accordingly. As the Assistant General Manager, you will serve as the vital support to the General Manager, stepping into their role when absent and ensuring seamless operation of the entire hotel. You will oversee multiple departments, collaborate closely with the General Manager to drive profitability, maintain impeccable standards of guest service, and foster a positive and productive work environment. This role requires a proactive, solution-oriented leader who thrives under pressure and communicates effectively across all levels of the organization.
Your responsibilities will include supervising teams, improving operational efficiency, assisting with recruitment and staff development, managing financial data, and maintaining professional standards of appearance within the hotel. You will embody hospitality excellence by promoting a friendly and service-focused atmosphere that guarantees every guest's satisfaction. Job Requirements
- At least five years of progressive hotel experience (Rooms or Food and Beverage), or a four-year degree with 2-3 years of related experience, or a two-year degree with 3-4 years of related experience
- supervisory background required
- ability to stay calm and objective under pressure
- must hold or obtain certifications such as Food Handlers, Alcohol Awareness, CPR, and First Aid
Job Qualifications
- At least five years of progressive experience in hotel management or related fields
- strong supervisory background with proven leadership skills
- excellent problem-solving abilities and conflict resolution experience
- effective interpersonal and communication skills
- proficiency with Windows Operating Systems and hotel management software
- experience in staff recruitment, training, and development
- familiarity with hospitality industry standards and guest service excellence
Job Duties
- Supervise multiple departments and drive hotel profitability by managing teams and partnering with the General Manager
- proactively identify and resolve challenges to ensure efficient hotel operations
- recruit, hire, and train Guest Services staff and support ongoing employee development programs
- maintain clear and active communication with guests and team members
- analyze financial information and support hotel operations through confident data management
- utilize Windows Operating Systems for management and reporting tasks
- uphold professional appearance and grooming standards for all staff
- provide friendly and service-focused interactions for guests and colleagues
