The position of Licensed Hair Stylist at Disney's Grand Californian Hotel & Spa offers a unique opportunity to be part of this prestigious environment by delivering professional hair and makeup services at Tenaya Stone Spa. This role involves working closely with guests to provide consultations, haircuts, styles, and therapeutic treatments, as well as expert makeup application tailored to the guest's individual needs. The stylist will utilize their technical knowledge of products and techniques to create stunning looks for social events, special occasions, or everyday beauty enhancement. Successful candidates will have a broad understanding of color coordination, textures, and makeup artistry to ensure guests leave feeling confident and satisfied. Additionally, the stylist must maintain the highest standards of sanitation and hygiene as required by law and Tenaya Stone Spa policies.

This position requires excellent communication skills and the ability to handle sensitive and difficult situations with professionalism and courtesy, ensuring complete guest satisfaction. The Licensed Hair Stylist will also actively promote the spa's treatments, services, retail products, and programs to enhance the guest experience and achieve sales goals. Continuous learning and professional development are encouraged, with mandatory training provided to stay current with spa policies, procedures, and emerging trends. The role is fast-paced and demanding, requiring flexibility in scheduling, including availability on weekends, holidays, and peak times. Compensation for this role in California starts at $21.13 per hour, plus commission and gratuities, with select benefits available as part of the overall compensation package. This position is ideal for cosmetologists or barbers holding a valid California license who enjoy working in a luxury spa environment with a dedication to outstanding customer service.

Job Requirements

You must be at least 18 years of age to be considered for this role
Previous experience in a Spa or Hotel environment
Ability to handle difficult/sensitive situations independently, while confidently utilizing service recovery methods
Must currently hold and maintain state Cosmetologist or Barber license with state of California
Excellent communication and listening skills
Ability to complete tasks independently
Spiel memorization and delivery
Knowledgeable about The Disneyland Resort and surrounding area

Job Duties

Provide consistent professional hair and makeup services in accordance with Tenaya Stone Spa protocols and accepted certification practices
Ability to effectively perform all spa treatments and services as defined by the position being performed
Broad understanding of color symmetry and coordination and understand the use and effects of different textures (frost, shimmer, etc.)
Must have the ability to create an image for the guest's needs/social event using different makeup colors, textures and application techniques
Must possess a technical understanding of product ingredients to avoid allergic reactions
Properly care for equipment and use proper amounts of products to be cost effective
Uphold the standards of sanitation and sterilization as directed by law and Tenaya Stone Spa policies and procedures
Perform prep work and properly clean and restock room as required
Actively promote spa, treatments, services, sessions, and retail as well as programs and promotions
Handle guests' questions and concerns professionally and courteously
Provide accurate and immediate responses to all requests by guests ensuring complete guest satisfaction
Attend mandatory training to maintain knowledge of current spa policies, procedures and trends
Must be able to perform all hair/makeup services offered by Tenaya Stone Spa
