Job Description

ZooTampa at Lowry Park is a premier zoological park located in Tampa, Florida, known as one of the most popular zoos in the southeastern United States. Attracting over one million visitors annually, the zoo spans 56 acres of beautifully maintained naturalistic habitats designed to provide a tropical garden environment ideal for a diverse range of wildlife. Accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA), ZooTampa offers exceptional educational programming, recreational activities, interactive animal encounters, and seasonal events designed to engage and educate visitors of all ages. The zoo is recognized for its commitment to conservation, education, and guest experience, making it a beloved destination for families and tourists alike.

Joining ZooTampa’s team as a seasonal Guest Services Representative means becoming part of a vibrant, guest-focused operation dedicated to creating memorable experiences. This role is crucial in supporting front gate operations during the zoo’s busy fall and spring seasons. Seasonal positions begin as early as September 15, 2025, and may continue through March 31, 2026, covering popular events such as Creatures of the Night and Christmas in the Wild.

As a Guest Services Representative, employees are the first point of contact for visitors, welcoming and assisting guests at the front gate. Responsibilities include the sale of admission tickets, upselling annual memberships and premium experiences, and providing accurate information both in person and over the phone. Representatives handle cash transactions, data entry, and maintain the cleanliness and organization of front gate and admission areas to ensure a smooth and inviting entry process. This position requires a courteous and positive demeanor, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. The role is seasonal and part-time, offering those interested an exciting opportunity to gain customer service experience within a unique wildlife conservation setting while contributing to the zoo’s mission.

This job also includes the opportunity to participate in an upcoming Job Fair on August 20, 2025, from 9:30 AM to 1:00 PM at ZooTampa’s Saunders Pavilion, where hiring managers will conduct on-the-spot interviews. Prospective candidates are encouraged to bring copies of their resume and a great attitude to potentially secure immediate employment. This recruitment effort highlights ZooTampa’s commitment to finding enthusiastic and dedicated frontline team members to help enhance guest experiences during peak seasons.

In addition to engaging directly with guests, temporary staff are expected to enforce policies and procedures politely and effectively, contribute to data management within the Galaxy database, and uphold all health and safety standards as directed by AZA and local regulations. Physical requirements include the ability to stand or walk for extended periods, work outdoors in various weather conditions typical of west central Florida, and perform light lifting and manual tasks.

The position offers a dynamic work environment where teamwork, flexibility, and strong communication are essential. Employees gain exposure to one of the most active and innovative zoos in the region, providing a potentially rewarding and enriching seasonal employment experience.
