The Guest Services Representative role is a vital position within the operations department at ZooTampa. This role is designed for individuals who are passionate about providing exceptional customer service while supporting the zoo’s mission. Day-to-day responsibilities include cash handling, data entry, ticket sales, and upselling memberships and special admission packages. In addition, the representative will answer guest inquiries over the phone and at the entrance, maintaining a welcoming and organized front gate area. The position demands professionalism, effective communication, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment while ensuring a positive experience for every visitor. Through attentive service, the Guest Services Representative directly impacts guest satisfaction and supports the zoo’s goal of creating meaningful and memorable wildlife experiences for all attendees. Job Requirements
- Conduct activities in alignment with AZA standards and regulations
- compliance with all relevant laws and safety standards
- ability to work in extreme weather typical to west central Florida including heat, rain, and cold
- ability to stand and walk for extended periods
- proficient use of radio, telephone, and computer for communication
- manual dexterity to type and handle tools and equipment
- sufficient cognitive ability, auditory and visual acuity to perform duties
- ability to work varied and long shifts including weekends, holidays, and special events
- availability for unexpected shifts
- capability to work in multiple physical positions such as sitting, bending, reaching, standing, walking, and lifting up to 30 lbs
- ability to navigate paved and uneven pathways
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- customer service experience preferred
- effective communication skills
- ability to develop positive relationships with all department members
- ability to complete projects in a reasonable timeframe
- courteous and tactful interaction with employees, peers, superiors, and the public
- effective time management skills
- ability to make sound decisions in fast-paced environments
- ability to follow specific instructions
- flexibility and multitasking abilities in fast-paced settings
- data entry experience with minimum typing speed of 40 wpm and alphanumeric speed of 8,000 kph
- cash handling experience preferred
- ability to communicate ideas and contribute effectively to the department
Job Duties
- Greet and direct guests
- sell admission tickets and upsell annual memberships and premium experiences at ticket windows
- provide exceptional customer service as outlined by department guidelines
- perform guest screening at point of entry
- enforce policies and procedures with guests and employees diplomatically
- handle payment transactions accurately using cash register and computer
- perform complete data entry for guests in the Galaxy database
- provide general guest services including guiding, interpreting, day planning, concierge service, and payment transactions
- maintain cleanliness and organization of admissions box offices and front gate/plaza areas
- follow daily schedule of activities
- ensure safety of guests and staff by following established guidelines
