Job Description
Nemours Estate is a renowned 225-acre public garden and historic home located in Wilmington, Delaware. Established in 1910, the estate was generously gifted by its benefactor Alfred I. duPont, who also founded the Nemours Children’s Hospital, Delaware. The hospital and estate coexist on the same expansive campus, sharing a unique 501c3 nonprofit status. This rare partnership places Nemours Estate in an exceptional position globally, where the intersection of health, wellbeing, arts, history, and horticulture can be explored in meaningful ways. This historic and horticultural sanctuary is not only a place of serene beauty and education but also a landmark that fosters community engagement and cultural enrichment.
Nemours Estate is seeking a Casual Guest Services Representative to be part of its dedicated team. This role is pivotal in shaping guests’ experiences by providing exceptional service, information, and hospitality. Guest Services Representatives are the face and voice of the estate, responsible for warmly welcoming visitors, processing admissions and ticket transactions, imparting historical knowledge, and ensuring guests have a positive and memorable visit. The position requires excellent communication skills, grace under pressure, and a genuine passion for customer service. Work hours are approximately 12-24 hours per week, typically spread across 2-4 shifts, mainly from 9 am to 5 pm. Candidates must be flexible to work weekdays, evenings, and some holidays to meet the needs of the guests.
This role offers an extraordinary opportunity for individuals who thrive in customer-facing positions within a cultural and historic setting. Representatives will play a crucial role in upholding the Nemours brand by maintaining high standards of service and hospitality. Duties include the operation of point-of-sale systems for admissions and ticketing, managing phone communications, sharing the estate’s rich historical background, coordinating with multiple departments like gardening and housekeeping to enhance visitor experiences, transporting guests via golf cart (valid driver’s license required), and assisting with group tour logistics. Ongoing training and team meetings are integral to maintaining high service standards and ensuring all staff are well-informed, prepared, and empowered to provide superior guest experiences.
Joining Nemours Estate as a Casual Guest Services Representative means becoming part of a historic legacy and a vibrant community that values education, culture, and health. This position offers an engaging, dynamic work environment where every interaction contributes to sustaining and enhancing the estate’s reputation as a premier destination for learning and leisure.
