Job Description
The Medical University Hospital Authority (MUHA), based in Charleston, South Carolina, is a reputable institution committed to providing top-quality healthcare services to the community. MUHA operates as a prominent healthcare provider offering a wide array of medical services and facilities to support patient care across various specialties. With a strong focus on patient satisfaction and quality service, MUHA is dedicated to fostering a supportive and professional working environment for all employees. The organization emphasizes inclusivity and equal opportunity in employment, ensuring a diverse and dynamic workforce that contributes to its mission of improving health and well-being. As a full-time employer, MUHA offers hourly pay for its positions within well-structured pay grades, and the team is comprised of energetic and enthusiastic professionals who are passionate about delivering excellent healthcare experiences in a collaborative setting.
The position of Guest Services Representative at MUHA plays a critical role in enhancing the patient and visitor experience in the hospital. Reporting directly to the Manager of CVICU and Manager of Guest Services, this full-time role involves covering both inpatient and outpatient House Concierge units as well as information services areas. The Guest Services Representative serves as a key liaison between patients, family members, visitors, guests, and nursing or clinical team members within the department, ensuring seamless communication and support. This role requires delivering a high level of customer service and providing assistance tailored to meet a variety of needs. Responsibilities include facilitating patient comfort, arranging hotel accommodations, and ensuring access to Chaplain and community social services, all of which contribute to optimal satisfaction for patients and their families. The representative’s work shifts are designed to cover day-to-day hospital operations efficiently, requiring excellent interpersonal skills and a compassionate approach to patient care.
This role is perfect for individuals who enjoy working in a fast-paced healthcare environment and are enthusiastic about helping others. The work involves continuous standing, sitting, and walking with occasional tasks that require lifting, bending, twisting, and reaching. The position demands manual dexterity with frequent use of gross and fine motor skills, along with good balance and coordination. Candidates should be prepared for a variety of physical activities, including occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs unassisted and exposure to indoor and outdoor work environments. Additionally, the job requires the ability to manage stress effectively, work flexible hours including rotating shifts and overtime, and maintain a latex-safe environment. The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent and welcomes applicants with little to no prior experience, making it an excellent entry-level opportunity for those interested in healthcare administrative support.
MUHA is committed to equal opportunity employment and does not discriminate based on race, color, religion, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, or veteran status, among other protected categories. The organization also participates in the federal E-Verify program to confirm the eligibility of all new employees. The culture at MUHA embraces teamwork, energy, and a commitment to patient-centered care, making it a rewarding place to build a career in healthcare administration and guest services.
