Job Description

The Orange County Fair & Event Center is a renowned venue that hosts a variety of community events and attractions, including the annual OC Fair. Known for its vibrant atmosphere and commitment to delivering exceptional guest experiences, the OC Fair & Event Center serves thousands of patrons each year ranging from everyday visitors and families to VIP guests and Board Members. As a vital part of the community, the OC Fair & Event Center strives to maintain an engaging and welcoming environment for all attendees, providing entertainment, educational opportunities, and exceptional hospitality services during its seasonal events.

The role of Guest Services Representative at the OC Fair is a seasonal, temporary position offered at a competitive rate of $17.75 per hour. This position is integral to ensuring that guests receive the highest level of customer service throughout the duration of the OC Fair, which lasts 23 days annually. The Guest Services Representative acts as the first point of contact for guests, assisting with inquiries, providing event information, resolving concerns, and assisting with special needs requests to enhance the overall guest experience. This role encompasses diverse responsibilities such as greeting fair patrons, handling customer feedback, serving as a receptionist for phone and visitor inquiries, and acting as a Neighborhood Ambassador to support community relations surrounding the fairgrounds.

The position demands an individual with a positive attitude, excellent communication skills, and the ability to remain calm and helpful under pressure. Since the role involves working both indoors and outdoors across various fair locations and under different weather conditions, candidates must be physically capable of standing, walking, and lifting up to 25 pounds. The work environment is fast-paced and may require working beyond typical business hours to meet the needs of events and programs.

Job Requirements

  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Have excellent customer service skills
  • Have previous experience in customer service especially with the public or VIPs
  • Be able to remain calm and helpful during stressful situations
  • Be available to work all 23 days of the annual OC Fair
  • Be able to work outside normal business days and weeks as needed
  • Be physically able to stand walk for extended periods and occasionally lift up to 25 pounds

Job Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Demonstrated excellent customer service skills
  • Previous experience in a customer service position preferably working with the public or VIPs
  • Ability to remain calm and helpful during stressful situations
  • Must be available to work all 23 days of the annual OC Fair
  • Ability to work outside normal business days and weeks as demanded by events and programs
  • Knowledge of the layout and facilities of the OC Fair & Event Center highly preferred
  • Bilingual English/Spanish skills strongly desired

Job Duties

  • Provide customer service to guests including fair patrons VIP guests and/or Board Members
  • Handle customer complaints comments and suggestions from guests and escalate more complex issues to Guest Services Leads and/or Supervisors
  • Provide guests with information regarding events including the annual OC Fair
  • Serve as Receptionist handling incoming phone inquiries and assisting walk-in visitors
  • Serve as a Neighborhood Ambassador monitoring local neighborhood activity removing waste and debris responding to and documenting neighbor requests
  • Direct guests to specific locations throughout the property
  • Ensure guests leave the property with a positive experience
  • Assist with special needs requests
  • Assist with hospitality duties during special events
