The Guest Services Representative position at the Adventure Science Center is an exciting opportunity for individuals passionate about delivering exceptional customer service in a dynamic and educational setting. This role is classified as non-exempt, part-time employment, with a competitive pay rate of $17.48 per hour. As a vital member of the Guest Services team, the representative is responsible for providing a warm, welcoming experience for all visitors, ensuring they receive outstanding service from the moment they arrive until their departure.

The position involves front desk responsibilities such as selling admission tickets, answering visitor inquiries in person and via phone, and managing the balance of cash transactions at the end of the day. The Guest Services Representative is expected to have thorough knowledge of the center’s exhibits to enhance visitor interactions and ensure an immersive and enjoyable experience. Additionally, this position requires the individual to maintain a clean and organized front desk area and lobby, accommodating school and private groups efficiently and professionally.

This role also includes assisting with operational duties like exhibit operation when necessary and managing coat checks and stroller rentals. A strong focus on guest safety, wayfinding, and emergency procedures is essential, with the representative expected to handle situations calmly and competently. The position requires physical activity such as standing, bending, and occasional lifting, emphasizing a proactive and enthusiastic approach to engaging guests. The Adventure Science Center values candidates who are reliable, flexible, possess strong communication skills, and can work independently or as part of a team. Job Requirements

  • Be at least 18 years old
  • availability to work peak days and hours including weekdays weekends and holidays
  • First Aid CPR AED certification preferred
  • ability to perform general physical movements including standing bending and carrying light items up to 20 pounds unassisted and 50 pounds assisted
  • manual dexterity and visual and auditory acuity
  • ability to handle some repetitive motion
  • adherence to standard safety precautions in the work environment

Job Duties

  • Welcome visitors and sell admission tickets providing friendly prompt and accurate customer service
  • learn and understand how exhibits work to ensure visitors have a positive unique and fun experience
  • work as a team to maintain a clean and presentable lobby and front desk
  • answer guest questions and resolve concerns in person and via phone
  • balance cash drawer at the end of each day
  • welcome and accommodate school and private groups
  • train for and work exhibit operation as needed
  • provide coat check and stroller rental services as needed
  • proactively engage guests with personal and enthusiastic interactions about the center
  • perform core operational functions related to guest safety and wayfinding
  • carry out emergency procedures and protocols as necessary
  • perform other duties as assigned
