Job Description

The City of Renton proudly invites enthusiastic individuals to join its team at the Renton Community Center (RCC), a vibrant hub dedicated to serving the diverse needs of the local community. Renowned for providing a wide variety of recreational programs, events, and services, the RCC fosters an inclusive environment that promotes healthy lifestyles, community engagement, and lifelong learning. As a local government entity, the City of Renton emphasizes a commitment to excellence, diversity, and teamwork while providing residents with facilities and programs designed to enrich their quality of life. The Renton Community Center stands as a cornerstone for community interaction, offering state-of-the-art amenities and a welcoming atmosphere for people of all ages and backgrounds.

This seasonal opportunity for a Guest Services position at the Renton Community Center is an exciting entry point into supporting community engagement through direct interaction with patrons. In this role, employees are the first point of contact for members and visitors alike. The primary responsibilities include welcoming customers, processing registrations, collecting fees, and assisting with various inquiries to ensure a smooth and pleasant experience. This position requires excellent interpersonal and communication skills because it involves frequent interactions with the public. Through delivering outstanding customer service, team members contribute to creating a positive image of the RCC and the City of Renton as a whole.

The pay structure for this role is tiered based on experience and qualifications, with hourly rates starting from $21.57 for Guest Services 1, $23.00 for Guest Services 2, and $26.00 for Guest Services 3. Work hours can vary from 20 to 40 per week and may include weekdays, weekends, and both day and evening shifts. Reporting directly to the Recreation Supervisor or Recreation Program Coordinator, this role does not include supervisory duties but plays a critical role in supporting the operational efficiency of the facility. Guest Services staff members handle cash transactions diligently, enforcing facility rules, setting up and taking down equipment for programs, and managing facility rentals.

In addition to strong customer service skills, the ideal candidate must be reliable, punctual, and committed to maintaining a professional and respectful demeanor at all times. The role demands the ability to multitask, follow detailed instructions, and work well within a team environment. Knowledge of safety protocols, conflict resolution skills, and the capability to act effectively in emergency situations are essential competencies. Physical demands include lifting items up to 25 pounds occasionally and working both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions. This position represents an excellent opportunity for those seeking experience in community-centered service roles while contributing positively to the City of Renton's recreational offerings.
