UnityPoint Health offers a comprehensive Total Rewards program that prioritizes the needs and priorities of its workforce across all life stages. The organization places a strong emphasis on building a culture of belonging where diversity is honored and everyone feels valued and respected. This culture of inclusion extends throughout the network, supported by close collaboration between UnityPoint Health - Meriter and UW Health to deliver outstanding healthcare services to the community. Joining UnityPoint Health means becoming part of a team dedicated to making a meaningful difference while receiving robust support and development opportunities that enhance the overall employment experience.
The Guest Services Assistant (GSA) role at UnityPoint Health serves as the critical front-line ambassador welcoming patients, families, visitors, physicians, affiliates, students, clergy, and employees upon their arrival. Acting as the first point of contact in the hospital’s Information and Guest Services areas, this position is key to delivering exceptional customer service, providing vital assistance in areas including health screening, visitor management, directions, wayfinding, concierge services, transportation, and guest lodging. Although the primary focus may alternate between the Guest Services Desk or the Information/Greeter/Health Screening desk, flexibility to support both is essential for maintaining smooth operations.
The GSA’s responsibilities extend to scheduling contracted interpreters, managing cash reconciliation and cash handling, overseeing external transportation billing and posting, and maintaining lost and found items. On the screening side, the assistant plays a crucial role in upholding wellness and safety by conducting health screenings following organizational and CDC guidelines. This function helps ensure that all individuals entering the facilities meet health standards to maintain a safe environment. The GSA also actively supports the management of patients and visitors in hospital lobbies and clinics, facilitating efficient and welcoming access to healthcare services. Given the diversity of duties, strong interpersonal skills, computer proficiency, and an ability to work well in a fast-paced healthcare setting are vital. This position offers a meaningful opportunity to impact the patient and visitor experience positively while supporting hospital operations and safety initiatives.
