The Guest Services & Community Engagement Associate plays a vital role at UConn Health Waterbury by serving as the welcoming face at the front lobby. This part-time position, with a schedule of 20 hours during daytime shifts, is designed for individuals passionate about providing exceptional customer service while supporting internal engagement initiatives. In this role, the Associate acts as a concierge, greeting visitors, patients, and employees warmly and professionally, offering directions, and helping them navigate the hospital with ease. The position requires flexibility as it involves supporting various projects across the organization, including patient experience enhancements and employee engagement efforts.

This Associate’s duties extend beyond typical visitor services to include active participation in engagement initiatives through regular rounding with employees. This interaction is crucial to fostering a connected and supportive workplace culture. Additionally, the Associate contributes to the patient experience by preparing and distributing birthday and seasonal holiday cards, reinforcing the hospital’s commitment to personalized care. The Associate also assists with special projects such as hand hygiene auditing and organizing important resource spaces within the hospital.

Job Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the facility for extended periods while rounding and greeting visitors
  • Work is performed in a hospital lobby and general office environment

Job Qualifications

  • Strong interpersonal skills and a genuine ability to connect with people at all levels of the organization
  • Well organized and highly detail oriented
  • Dependable, with a strong work ethic and a commitment to service
  • Ability to communicate clearly and courteously with visitors, patients, and employees
  • Completion of the Project SEARCH program or equivalent workplace training/experience preferred

Job Duties

  • Greet visitors at the front lobby with warmth and professionalism, providing directions to elevators, departments, and destinations throughout the building
  • Conduct regular rounding with employees across departments to support engagement initiatives
  • Support patient experience by preparing and delivering birthday and seasonal holiday cards to patients and employees
  • Assist with special projects as assigned, such as hand hygiene auditing, quality improvement support, and organizing the community resource closet and nursing floor closets
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of organizational initiatives
