Job Description

NGIS North Island, located in San Diego, California, is a key organization within the Navy Exchange Service Command (NEXCOM) Enterprise. The role of Front Desk Supervisor within the NEXCOM Hospitality Group (NHG) is critical for managing and overseeing the daily operations of the front desk and ensuring a high level of guest service and operational excellence. This position requires a hands-on leader who can supervise front desk staff, maintain the lobby's appearance, address guest concerns, and interface with other NHG teams and the command chain to solve complex issues promptly.

The Front Desk Supervisor is responsible for guiding and training associates on NHG operational procedures, standards, and software systems such as the Property Management System and Point of Sale. They monitor productivity, assign work, and ensure the completion of required training programs within established timelines. Managing personnel schedules, leave requests, attendance, and payroll documentation falls within this role’s scope as well, requiring precision and administrative skills.

In addition to operational oversight, the Front Desk Supervisor controls inventory aspects related to employee uniforms and guest amenities, handles mail and message distribution, and is proficient in multi-line telephone system operations. This role includes financial responsibilities such as reconciling daily transactions across different accounts and performing night audit functions to maintain accurate financial records.

The position also acts as Manager on Duty when the General Manager is absent, maintaining continuity and operational stability. The role demands adherence to state and federal regulations, particularly OSHA standards, to ensure a clean and safe environment. Supervisory duties further include hiring assistance, staff evaluation, counseling, performance appraisals, and recommending awards.

The role may involve participating in the setup and breakdown of events in the lobby area, maintaining operational readiness during emergencies and adverse weather conditions, and managing procurement processes for supplies and guest amenities. The successful candidate will exercise mature judgment, manage budgets, and secure guest rooms and access keys responsibly.

This full-time position requires flexibility, including willingness to work all shifts, holidays, and weekends, with a shift schedule subject to change. Candidates with a minimum of two years of relevant administrative or supervisory experience, or equivalent education in hospitality-related fields, are encouraged to apply. Job Qualifications

  • two years of experience in administrative professional investigative or responsible work with knowledge of business practices and ability to exercise mature judgment

  • one year of specialized supervisory or technical experience in Navy Lodge or similar guest services environment
  • skill in dealing with others in person-to-person relationships
  • knowledge of Navy Lodge front of house operations or similar guest services protocols
  • ability to manage staff schedules leave requests and payroll
  • proficiency in use of Property Management System and Point of Sale software
  • understanding of OSHA and related federal and state regulations
  • strong organizational and communication skills

Job Duties

  • supervises NHG front desk operations including lobby appearance guest service and office operations

  • performs daily reconciliation of accounts executes night audit functions researches discrepancies and assists management with reporting
  • acts as Manager on Duty in absence of General Manager
  • participates in hiring evaluates and counsels staff completes performance evaluations and recommends awards
  • creates and submits purchase requisitions maintains supplies monitors equipment and ensures OSHA compliance
  • maintains clean safe environment and secures guest rooms and keys
  • performs other related duties as assigned
  • willing to work weekends holidays and shifting schedules
