The hiring establishment is a Navy Gateway Inn and Suites and/or Navy Lodge property located in Belle Chasse, Louisiana, under the New Orleans organization. The front desk responsibilities encompass managing reservations from initial booking to cancellation, verifying patron eligibility, processing payments, and issuing room keys. Familiarity with point-of-sale (POS) systems may also be required for sales from the convenience store on premises. Additional duties may include assisting with breakfast bar set-up and clean-up, maintaining supply levels, and performing light housekeeping or laundry assistance as needed.

Working closely within a team setting, the front desk associate communicates effectively with lodging associates and supervisors to ensure operational smoothness and swift resolution of guest concerns. Training is mandatory for the overnight shift, and the candidate must be ready to fill in gaps in the schedule, demonstrating flexibility and reliability. The role also requires compliance with NEXCOM Hospitality Group standards and the potential attainment of relevant certifications within the first six months of employment.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • One year of general office clerical experience
  • One year of progressively responsible experience related to front desk operations
  • Ability to work overnight shifts including weekends and holidays
  • Effective communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to operate multi-line telephone and property management systems
  • Valid state driver’s license may be required
  • Ability to obtain necessary certifications including NEXCOM Hospitality Group front desk certification within six months

Job Qualifications

  • One year of general office clerical experience demonstrating satisfactory performance
  • One year of progressively responsible experience related to the front desk or guest services position
  • Ability to effectively communicate and interact professionally with diverse guests
  • Knowledge of standard operating procedures and property management systems
  • Basic math skills for reconciliation of accounts and transactions
  • Ability to complete mandatory training including overnight shift requirements
  • Eligibility to obtain NEXCOM Hospitality Group front desk certification within six months

Job Duties

  • Greet and welcome guests upon sight maintaining outstanding guest relations
  • Assist guests with requests including making confirming and cancelling room reservations processing payments and managing check-in check-out
  • Communicate with lodging associates and chain of command concerning operations guest issues or immediate attention situations
  • Apply knowledge of standard operating procedures regarding patron eligibility and handle room assignments and reservations
  • Reconcile shift transactions ensuring complete balancing and maintain guest service
  • Operate multi-line telephone system record and deliver messages and answer inquiries about services and local attractions
  • Ensure security of all guests maintain inventory of keys supplies and keep lobby area clean and safe
