Marriott International is recognized worldwide for its commitment to quality, innovation, and a welcoming atmosphere that makes every guest feel valued and appreciated. With a strong presence in the hotel industry, the Courtyard brand is designed specifically to meet the needs of modern travelers, particularly those traveling for business purposes. The hotel features contemporary amenities, inviting spaces, and a prime location in the bustling River North neighborhood, offering guests easy access to Chicago’s top attractions, dining, and entertainment options.
The Front Desk Agent position at Courtyard by Marriott Chicago Downtown/River North is a full-time, non-management role offering an hourly pay range between $25.95 and $27.22. This role is pivotal in ensuring a smooth and positive guest experience from the moment guests arrive until they depart. The primary responsibilities include managing guest check-ins and check-outs, making and adjusting room reservations, and handling payment processing securely and accurately. The agent activates and files room keys, processes guest requests and messages, and prints contingency lists to maintain a record of all guests for emergency situations.
The Front Desk Agent serves as the face of the hotel, providing clear and helpful information about room features, hotel amenities, services, operating hours, and local points of interest. The role requires vigilant follow-up on any outstanding guest requests or issues from the previous day to ensure complete guest satisfaction. Daily operational duties include running and reviewing reports and logs, completing cashier and closing reports within the computer system, and managing bank transactions at shift start and end.
Additionally, the agent processes various payment types, adjustment vouchers, paid-outs, and correction vouchers. They provide change as necessary and are responsible for notifying Loss Prevention or Security in case of any reported theft incidents. Beyond administrative tasks, the Front Desk Agent upholds Marriott’s high standards by maintaining professionalism, ensuring personal appearance is clean, handling confidential information responsibly, and protecting company assets.
Exceptional communication skills are essential, as the role involves welcoming guests warmly, addressing their needs proactively, assisting individuals with disabilities, and expressing genuine appreciation to guests. The agent must interact respectfully and clearly with colleagues and guests alike, using professional language and telephone etiquette. Team collaboration and support are highly encouraged to achieve common goals and exceed quality assurance standards.
Physical demands include standing, sitting, or walking for extended periods and handling light physical tasks such as moving objects weighing up to 10 pounds. The job may also involve performing other duties as requested by supervisors, ensuring flexibility and adaptability.
Working at Courtyard by Marriott Chicago Downtown/River North means being part of a diverse and inclusive workplace where all associates are valued regardless of background. The company fosters an environment of equal opportunity, embracing differences and supporting each employee’s growth and career development. Associates benefit from a comprehensive range of perks designed to enrich wellbeing, support professional aspirations, and promote a balance between work and life. This role is ideal for motivated individuals passionate about hospitality who thrive in a dynamic, supportive team environment while continuously improving their skills and providing memorable guest experiences.
