Job Description
The New Brighton Parks and Recreation Department is a vibrant community-focused organization dedicated to providing exceptional recreational opportunities and services to the residents of New Brighton. Known for its commitment to enhancing quality of life through diverse programs and well-maintained facilities, the department serves as a central hub for community engagement, wellness, and leisure activities. As a local government entity, it prioritizes accessibility, customer satisfaction, and efficient service delivery across all its operations, ensuring every patron feels welcomed and valued when visiting its facilities or participating in its programs.
We are currently seeking a dedicated and personable Guest Service Receptionist to join our team. This role is crucial in maintaining a positive first impression and ensuring seamless interactions between the department and the public. The Guest Service Receptionist will be responsible for providing a variety of customer service-related activities and handling various transactions for patrons who contact the New Brighton Parks and Recreation Department. Additionally, this position supports City and facility staff by addressing customer needs and completing office support and light housekeeping responsibilities as scheduled or requested. This part-time position operates on weekdays with a schedule of Wednesday and Friday from 8:45 am to 3:00 pm, offering a balanced work-life structure.
The ideal candidate will excel at multitasking, staying organized, and communicating effectively with diverse groups of people, including the general public and staff from various City departments. The role requires a friendly demeanor and a helpful attitude, as Guest Service Receptionists serve as the face of the department, welcoming walk-in customers and handling inquiries with professionalism and warmth. In addition to customer service tasks, this position involves administrative duties such as completing and entering program registrations and membership transactions into the appropriate databases, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
Guest Service Receptionists also perform operational tasks, including opening and closing procedures for the New Brighton Community Center (NBCC) as scheduled, and undertaking housekeeping duties to maintain a clean and inviting environment. This position requires adaptability and a willingness to undertake other job-related responsibilities as assigned, contributing to the smooth running of the facility and supporting the broader goals of the Parks and Recreation Department.
Working in this role offers unique opportunities to engage with the community actively, enhance customer service skills, and gain experience in both administrative and operational functions within a municipal recreation setting. Candidates interested in contributing to a positive community experience and supporting public services in New Brighton will find this role both fulfilling and rewarding.
