Job Description
Marriott International is a globally renowned hospitality company that operates a broad portfolio of hotels and luxury properties designed to provide exceptional experiences to guests around the world. Among its distinguished brands, JW Marriott stands out for its commitment to luxury, innovation, and superior service. With locations in gateway cities and unique resort destinations, JW Marriott has cultivated a reputation for offering its guests an elegant and memorable stay, while fostering a supportive and empowering work environment for its associates. Marriott International values diversity, inclusion, and equal employment opportunities, ensuring a welcoming atmosphere where all team members can thrive and contribute their unique talents and perspectives.
This particular job opening is for a Guest Service Expert within the food and beverage division at one of Marriott’s prestigious properties in Santa Clara, California. The position is part-time and non-management, offering hourly pay at $18.70, with additional eligibility for tips. The role centers around creating an enjoyable dining experience that goes far beyond merely serving food and drinks. Guest Service Experts are essential to the hotel’s service delivery, playing a key role in interacting with guests, facilitating smooth food service operations, and maintaining an inviting atmosphere.
The duties of this role extend beyond taking orders or bringing meals to tables; the Guest Service Expert is instrumental in setting tables, ensuring cleanliness, communicating effectively with kitchen staff, and handling guest requests efficiently and with warmth. This position demands individuals who are proactive, attentive to detail, and willing to maintain high standards of personal appearance and communication. Due to the dynamic nature of the hospitality environment, candidates must be prepared to handle physical tasks such as standing or moving throughout the shift, navigating uneven surfaces safely, and lifting or carrying items weighing up to 25 pounds independently or more with assistance. Flexibility to work weekends and holidays is preferred to meet the business's operational needs.
The ideal candidate will typically have a high school diploma or GED and some prior experience in food serving or a related field, though less than a year of experience is acceptable. This reflects Marriott’s dedication to providing opportunities for growth and learning within the hospitality industry. There are no supervisory expectations for this position, making it ideal for individuals looking to begin or advance their career in hotel food and beverage service without direct managerial responsibilities.
Working as a Guest Service Expert at JW Marriott means becoming part of a global team committed to hospitality excellence. The company emphasizes associate well-being, development, and recognition, ensuring that employees can grow both personally and professionally. You will find a culture that values innovation, genuine care, and forward-thinking service so that each guest’s visit is truly exceptional. Joining the JW Marriott family means embarking on a career path that merges passion with professionalism in a luxury setting, all while being supported by a brand that cares deeply about the people who make the guest experience possible. This is more than a job; it is an opportunity to belong to a community dedicated to craftsmanship in hospitality and to become the best version of yourself alongside your colleagues.
