Job Description
Marriott Long Beach Downtown, located at 111 E Ocean Blvd in Long Beach, California, is part of the globally recognized Marriott International brand. Marriott International is a premier hospitality company dedicated to delivering a superior lodging experience through its extensive portfolio that encompasses luxury, premium, and select-service hotels worldwide. Marriott Long Beach Downtown is a full-service hotel catering to a diverse clientele, including business travelers, tourists, and event attendees. As a part of this respected brand, the hotel embodies Marriott’s commitment to outstanding service, comfort, and guest satisfaction.
This position is for the Marriott Long Beach Downtown M-Club, providing an elevated guest experience during the day and evening shifts, including weekend availability. The role is full-time and classified as non-management, offering an hourly wage of $25.00 with tipped compensation. A key feature of this role is the commitment to open availability to meet the needs of varying shifts.
The Guest Service Expert role at Marriott Long Beach Downtown is an integral part of the Food and Beverage and Culinary team. The position goes beyond basic service and aims to create memorable and unique experiences for guests. In addition to the typical duties expected within the hospitality industry, this role demands a proactive and enthusiastic approach to customer service. Guest Service Experts are responsible for a wide range of tasks, including setting tables, facilitating effective communication with kitchen staff, interacting positively throughout guests’ dining experiences, and maintaining cleanliness in work areas and supplies. These activities contribute to a welcoming atmosphere and ensure a seamless, enjoyable dining experience.
Moreover, the role requires physical stamina, as team members are expected to be on their feet for extended periods, moving across various surfaces and engaging in activities such as lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling objects weighing up to 25 pounds independently or up to 50 pounds with assistance. The position also demands attentiveness to detail, ensuring that the menu is accurately managed, and all tasks are executed with professionalism, including adherence to uniform standards and clear communication.
Marriott Long Beach Downtown emphasizes safety, quality standards, and consistent guest service. Maintaining a safe workplace environment and following company policies are non-negotiable aspects of the role. The team members become brand ambassadors who uphold Marriott’s philosophy of "Wonderful Hospitality. Always." This role provides an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about hospitality who desire to develop their careers with a world-class hotel company known for employee development, diversity, and inclusion.
The hotel also proudly aligns with Marriott International’s commitment to equal opportunity employment, actively fostering diversity and inclusion and welcoming applications regardless of background. Associates at JW Marriott properties, including Marriott Long Beach Downtown, benefit from a supportive work environment focused on growth, recognition, and wellbeing. Employees are encouraged to bring their authentic selves to work and pursue their passions within a luxury hospitality setting.
This role is particularly suited for applicants with a high school diploma or GED, even those with less than one year of related work experience, offering a unique entry point into the hospitality industry. No supervisory experience or certifications are required, making this a valuable starting position in the food and beverage service sector. With Marriott’s focus on team camaraderie, innovative service, and a holistic approach to employee welfare, this opportunity is ideal for those seeking to build a meaningful career in the hospitality field while contributing to a memorable guest experience.
