Job Description

The Salvation Army is a renowned international movement known for its evangelical work within the universal Christian church. The organization’s ministry is deeply motivated by the love of God and centers on preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ while meeting human needs without discrimination. Operating globally, The Salvation Army is dedicated to serving diverse communities with compassion, support, and respect. With a rich history and a wide range of social services, it remains a beacon of hope and assistance for individuals and families in need.

Located in Fayette County, Lexington, KY, our lodge operates as an essential hub for community support, providing a secure and welcoming environment for residents who seek shelter and assistance. Our lodge thrives on cooperation, dedication, and respect between staff members and residents alike. We are currently looking for committed individuals to join our team in a security-focused role, assisting lodge residents in understanding and following policies and procedures to maintain a safe and supportive environment for everyone. This position is available as both full-time and part-time, with full-time shifts typically from Wednesday to Sunday, 3 pm to 11 pm, and part-time shifts covering weekends with flexible scheduling options. Compensation starts at $13.00 per hour, reflecting our commitment to attracting dedicated professionals to our mission-driven team.

The role is more than just maintaining security; it is about fostering a spirit of kindness, respect, and community engagement. The successful candidate will greet everyone entering the facility warmly and provide tours to new clients, ensuring they feel welcomed and informed of the lodge’s operations. Maintaining vigilance throughout the building and grounds every 45 minutes helps promote a safe and orderly environment. Responsibilities include monitoring dining areas during meals, recording head counts multiple times per shift, and keeping detailed records and reports to ensure clear communication among staff members.

This role requires familiarity with The Salvation Army’s Employee Procedure Manual and Residential Policy Manual, as well as a proactive attitude toward safety and cleanliness, as directed by leadership. Working in cooperation with other team members, the individual will play a crucial role in ensuring all protocols are followed, aiding in the smooth and safe operation of the lodge.

Additionally, the position includes providing cover for co-workers during absences and assisting with other necessary services to support the lodge’s efficient functioning. The candidate should be prepared to enforce visitor policies that require guests to sign in, wearing visitor badges, and presenting appropriate identification. This helps maintain security and accountability within the facility.

This security role contributes directly to The Salvation Army’s mission of meeting human needs in Jesus Christ's name and ensuring that all residents and visitors experience a safe, respectful, and supportive atmosphere. Those who join our team become part of a compassionate community committed to service and spiritual outreach.
