Job Description

Sonesta International Hotels is the 8th largest hotel company in the United States and is rapidly expanding its footprint with a diverse blend of full-service and focused hotels located in major cities across the country. With a portfolio that includes owned, managed, and franchised properties, Sonesta stands as a beacon of quality, service, and hospitality, trusted by travelers worldwide. The company has over 1000 properties across eight countries, emphasizing its global presence and commitment to bringing exceptional experiences to every guest at every stay. Sonesta’s mission is deeply rooted in the human side of hospitality, focusing on delivering service with passion, loyalty, and meaningful connections. This approach ensures that guests receive not just a stay but an experience marked by warmth and attentiveness.

The role of the Guest Services Agent (GSA) is pivotal within Sonesta’s operations. As the first point of contact at the front desk, the GSA embodies the company’s brand values and directly influences the guest experience from the moment they enter the hotel. This position is essential for maintaining both operational efficiency and exceptional guest relations, providing support to the Operations Manager and managing the front desk’s technology systems. The GSA’s responsibilities range from registering guests, issuing room keys, and managing reservations to handling cash and credit card transactions securely and accurately. A strong emphasis is placed on upholding Sonesta’s G.U.E.S.T. standards, which guide guest interactions and ensure consistent delivery of quality service.

This full-time position offers a competitive base pay range of $24 to $25 per hour, with pay varying based on experience and qualifications. The candidate must be adept at multitasking and working in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing both operational tasks and guest service. The position requires the ability to work flexible hours, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays, to meet the demands of hotel operations. Physical stamina is important as the role involves frequent standing, bending, climbing, and handling objects weighing up to 50 pounds.

Beyond operational duties, the Guest Services Agent plays a key role in revenue maximization by upselling room types and managing group reservations while adhering to seasonal pricing strategies. Additionally, the GSA ensures compliance with federal, state, and local laws related to health, safety, and alcohol sales. Excellent communication skills are necessary, as the role requires interaction with a wide variety of guests and coordination with other departments to promote teamwork and quality service. This position also requires obtaining certifications such as ServSafe and potentially TIPS, to ensure the highest standards of safety and hospitality are met.

Sonesta International Hotels offers a wealth of benefits supporting employees' health, financial security, and work-life balance, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, a health savings account with company match, and a 401(k) retirement plan with company match. Other perks include paid vacation and sick days, hotel discounts, educational assistance, and paid parental leave. The company also provides life insurance, short-term and long-term disability insurance, and a variety of additional employee perks. Sonesta is committed to creating an inclusive and equitable work environment, offering equal employment opportunities without discrimination. This role is ideal for candidates passionate about hospitality, eager to contribute to a growing and dynamic hotel company, and motivated to thrive in a guest-focused environment.
