The position available is for a Guest Services Agent (GSA), a critical role within the hotel's front desk operations. The GSA acts as the first point of contact for guests, representing the Sonesta brand and embodying its high standards of customer service. This role supports the Operations Manager and is responsible for delivering results that align with the hotel’s performance objectives. The GSA manages a range of responsibilities from registering guests, issuing room keys, handling reservations, and ensuring accurate processing of payments to maintaining the security of sensitive guest information. The role requires proficiency in front desk technology systems and effective communication skills to foster positive guest interactions. GSAs also collaborate with other departments to maintain a seamless guest experience and adhere to legal standards regarding health, safety, and alcohol service.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • one year previous hotel experience or retail customer service preferred
  • experience in extended stay industry preferred
  • ability to speak, read, and write fluent English
  • professional verbal and written communication skills
  • mathematical proficiency including budgeting and profit/loss concepts preferred
  • problem solving and organizational skills preferred
  • experience with Microsoft Office and Opera systems preferred
  • willingness to obtain ServSafe certification
  • willingness to obtain TIPS certification
  • valid driver’s license
  • ability to stand, bend, climb, kneel, and move about the facility frequently
  • ability to carry, lift, or pull items up to 50 pounds
  • standing for extended periods
  • availability to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • one year of previous hotel experience or retail customer service preferred
  • previous background from the extended stay industry preferred
  • ability to speak, read, and write fluent English
  • professional verbal and written communication skills
  • mathematical skills including basic math, budgeting, profit/loss concepts, percentages, and variances preferred
  • problem solving, reasoning, motivating, organizational, and training abilities preferred
  • experience with Microsoft Office and Opera systems preferred
  • ability to obtain ServSafe certification
  • potential requirement to obtain TIPS certification
  • valid driver’s license

Job Duties

  • Deliver on the promise of Sonesta service in all interactions with guests and clients according to the Sonesta G.U.E.S.T. standards
  • register guests, issue room keys, and provide information on hotel services and room location
  • answer phones in a prompt and courteous manner
  • accurately process all cash and credit card transactions in accordance with established procedures including but not limited to posting all charges, completing cashier and other reports, preparing deposit, and counting/securing assigned bank
  • maintain the security of cash, credit card transactions, and guest information
  • routinely book guest reservations for individuals and/or groups via phone or in-house
  • process cancellations, revisions, and information updates on changes
  • up-sell rooms where possible to maximize revenue
  • follow the overall seasonal demand reservation strategy communicated by hotel management regarding room type and length of stay pricing
  • promote teamwork and quality service through daily communication and coordination with other shifts and departmental management
  • service the shoppe and the pour ensuring guests receive the service and products offered by the hotel while complying with local laws regarding alcoholic beverage sales
  • ensure guest special requests are fulfilled and proper delivery of guest services is done
  • issue, control and release guest safe-deposit boxes
  • comply with federal, state, and local laws regarding health, safety, and alcohol services
  • perform other duties as assigned
