Job Description

The Ritz-Carlton Lake Tahoe, located in the picturesque Truckee, California, is a luxury hotel renowned for its exceptional guest services and world-class amenities. This prestigious establishment is part of the globally recognized Ritz-Carlton brand, known for its commitment to excellence, elegance, and superior hospitality experiences. Surrounded by stunning alpine landscapes and close to some of the best ski resorts in the United States, the hotel offers guests a perfect blend of natural beauty, luxury accommodations, and top-tier customer service. As a leading destination for travelers seeking comfort and relaxation, The Ritz-Carlton Lake Tahoe prides itself on maintaining a superior environment not just for its guests but also for its dedicated staff.

The Maintenance Engineer position at The Ritz-Carlton Lake Tahoe is a full-time, non-management role that offers an hourly pay of $24.55. This position is essential in ensuring that the hotel’s physical infrastructure maintains its high standards of safety, functionality, and aesthetic appeal. The role requires a combination of technical skill, proactive problem-solving abilities, and excellent communication skills. The successful candidate will be responsible for responding promptly and efficiently to guest repair requests, performing preventive maintenance on tools and equipment, and conducting detailed inspections to diagnose and resolve maintenance issues. This includes the operation and maintenance of a variety of systems such as air conditioning, refrigeration, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, pneumatic and electronic controls, carpentry, and kitchen equipment.

In this role, the Maintenance Engineer will work across multiple categories of hotel engineering, requiring a solid knowledge of hand and power tool use, basic plumbing repair such as soldering copper pipes, and troubleshooting equipment such as pumps and motors. Duties also extend to minor drywall and wood trim repairs, assisting with surface preparation and painting, replacing light bulbs and A/C filters, and maintaining accurate maintenance inventories. The role involves using computer programs related to preventative maintenance, energy management systems, and the Lockout/Tagout safety system. The position offers an excellent learning environment, allowing engineers to develop mid-level troubleshooting skills in mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, as well as opportunities to mentor others and take on Engineer on Duty responsibilities.

The ideal candidate will have open availability, including weekend shifts, and a preference for day shifts. Candidates should have at least a high school diploma or equivalent, combined with vocational or technical training and experience in general maintenance, including surface preparation and painting. A minimum of two years of hotel engineering or maintenance experience is preferred. The Maintenance Engineer must also possess a valid driver’s license and a Universal Chlorofluorocarbon (CFC) Certification meeting applicable state and federal requirements.

This role demands a commitment to safety, professionalism, and excellent guest interaction skills, ensuring that every maintenance task is performed to the highest standards while maintaining the hotel’s reputation for outstanding hospitality. Candidates will be expected to adhere strictly to safety protocols, report hazards or accidents, and maintain the confidentiality of proprietary information while upholding a professional appearance.
