Job Description

The Museum's Guest Relations Department is integral to creating an exceptional visitor experience by managing the daily operations of the ticket desk and coordinating birthday parties, all while supporting the museum's membership program. Known for its commitment to education, community engagement, and cultural enrichment, the museum offers a dynamic and welcoming environment that attracts diverse audiences ranging from families and school groups to art aficionados and tourists. The establishment prides itself on delivering exceptional customer service, ensuring every visitor feels valued and their experience is both enjoyable and informative. The museum operates with a strong emphasis on teamwork, safety, and professionalism to maintain a high standard of visitor services and operational excellence.

This role is a full-time, hourly position starting at $13.50 per hour, offering a consistent schedule that may include holidays, evenings, and weekends. The focus of the position is on delivering superior customer service as an ambassador of the museum. The successful candidate will be responsible for greeting visitors with a warm and welcoming demeanor, providing accurate and consistent information using the museum's prepared scripts, and handling all interactions courteously and politely. Beyond customer interaction, this role involves educating visitors about various products and membership options, actively promoting sales by upselling and meeting monthly goals, and proficiently operating the point-of-sale system to process transactions effectively. The role also encompasses cash control responsibilities, ensuring compliance with proper money handling policies, and managing the cash drawer with accuracy throughout each shift.

In addition to sales and customer service, the position requires maintaining cleanliness and orderliness at the front desk and lobby areas, restocking brochures and merchandise, and ensuring that all ticket desk operations are smooth and efficient by following opening and closing procedures. The candidate will also play a critical role in upholding the museum's safety and security protocols. This includes monitoring guest entrance and exit, responding to alarms, collaborating with security and maintenance teams, and managing emergency procedures such as fire drills or lost child protocols.

Moreover, the role involves facilitating the museum’s celebrations and events, such as birthday parties and after-hours functions, ensuring each is executed with a high standard of excellence that reflects the museum's brand values. This multifaceted position requires individuals who are sales-driven, team-oriented, able to work effectively under pressure, and adept at multitasking. Candidates must possess strong communication skills and a demonstrated ability to work well with a variety of personalities. The physical demands include standing and walking on the museum floor for extended periods and the ability to lift supplies as needed. Shift work includes weekends, some night hours, and holiday work, reflecting the museum's operational hours and visitor patterns. Overall, this guest relations role offers an exciting opportunity for individuals passionate about customer service, sales, and contributing to enriching cultural experiences.
