Job Description
Indiana University Health is Indiana's most comprehensive health system, encompassing 15 hospitals and employing nearly 40,000 team members dedicated to serving the healthcare needs of Hoosiers throughout the state. Its strong partnership with the Indiana University School of Medicine provides team members with access to cutting-edge science and exceptional training, fostering continuous advances in patient care. This commitment to excellence makes IU Health a leader in healthcare innovation, compassionate service, and community well-being. The organization is committed to creating an inclusive environment, embodying values of respect, integrity, and teamwork among its diverse workforce. IU Health is an equal opportunity employer, ensuring fair treatment and reasonable accommodations for all individuals, including those with disabilities, throughout the employment process.
The Guest Relations Associate position at Riley Hospital plays a critical role in setting the standard for an exceptional patient and visitor experience. The role requires individuals to be warm, welcoming, and resourceful, acting as the first point of contact for patients, families, and visitors. Operating primarily during evening and weekend shifts of approximately 16-24 hours per week, from 2 p.m. to 11 p.m., this role is essential in maintaining the hospital's culture and reputation. The associate serves as a professional representative of the hospital by greeting and assisting an average of 1,500 to 2,000 guests daily, providing accurate and helpful information about the hospital facilities and the surrounding community, and escorting patients and family members to their destinations within the hospital.
This position demands a concierge-level customer service attitude, with a strong passion for helping others and an ability to engage warmly with all individuals. Flexibility is vital, as the role may require working at different hospital locations depending on the department's needs. The job involves high levels of physical activity, including walking between 10,000 and 15,000 steps each shift, to ensure that all guests feel supported and guided throughout their visit. The Guest Relations Associate is also a culture champion responsible for embracing and demonstrating IU Health's mission and vision to promote an inclusive, dignified patient experience. Effective utilization of technology is essential, as the associate must efficiently use computer systems to access up-to-date information and communicate clearly.
This is a part-time role ideally suited to individuals who thrive in dynamic, people-focused environments and are passionate about contributing to healthcare excellence. Prior healthcare or concierge experience is preferable but not mandatory, making this an excellent opportunity for motivated individuals eager to build a meaningful career in healthcare support and customer service. IU Health provides reasonable accommodations during the application and interview processes, emphasizing their commitment to diversity and inclusivity in their workforce.
