Job Description
Boeing is a world-leading aerospace company dedicated to innovating and advancing aerospace technologies to make the world a better place. As a premier global manufacturer of commercial airplanes, defense, space, and security systems, Boeing continuously pushes the envelope in engineering and production excellence. The company is firmly committed to creating an inclusive, respectful, and empowering work environment where every teammate has opportunities to grow professionally while contributing to groundbreaking aerospace projects. Boeing fosters a culture that values collaboration, safety, and continuous improvement to deliver top-tier, reliable products that serve customers worldwide.
Boeing Commercial Airplanes, a key division within Boeing, is actively seeking experienced Group Coordinator Assemblers (Level C) to join the 787 Final Assembly Team in North Charleston, South Carolina. This role is critical to supporting final assembly and field travel aircraft through enhancing production efficiency, ensuring the highest standards of safety, and optimizing product quality. The Group Coordinator will operate on a variable shift schedule, which includes weekend work, to effectively align with the production demands of the aerospace manufacturing environment.
The role involves comprehensive responsibilities such as pre-shift planning, leading crew meetings, providing team status updates, managing labor loss, coordinating production control measures, overseeing training initiatives, and driving process improvements through Lean and Boeing Production System (BPS) methodologies. Exceptional coordination skills are required to work cross-functionally with leads and managers to ensure the critical path of production builds is efficiently executed.
Additionally, the Group Coordinator is entrusted with supervising the Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) procedures to maintain hazardous energy control and safeguard the workforce and equipment. Duties include reviewing and inventorying LOTO materials and equipment, coordinating hazardous energy work, supervising hand-off or end-of-shift activities, and ensuring strict compliance with safety protocols. The Group Coordinator is expected to maintain accurate documentation and verify aircraft power can be safely provided during production stages.
Candidates will work extensively onsite at the North Charleston location, as remote work is not applicable for this role. Boeing does not offer visa sponsorship for this position, and all applicants must complete a virtual aptitude assessment as part of the hiring process to demonstrate aptitude in aerospace technician and mechanic tasks. This position offers a competitive pay range from $61,200 to $64,500, reflecting experience, qualifications, and market factors. Boeing also provides a comprehensive Total Rewards package including health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off, designed to attract and retain the best talent within the aerospace industry.
Joining Boeing as a Group Coordinator Assembler offers a unique opportunity to contribute to high-profile aerospace projects and be part of a safety-focused, innovative manufacturing environment. Candidates will benefit from working alongside skilled professionals in a company that values safety, quality, and continuous improvement while offering extensive training and professional development pathways. This role is integral to Boeing’s commitment to aerospace excellence and production success.
