Job Description

The Margot Hotel is a distinguished hotel located in the vibrant San Diego Gaslamp Quarter, an area known for its lively entertainment, dining, and cultural experiences. As an independent franchisee-owned property affiliated with the Hilton brand, The Margot Hotel combines the prestige and standards of a prominent international name with personalized service and local charm. The hotel caters to a wide range of guests including business travelers, tourists, and group event attendees, with a focus on exceptional accommodations, meeting spaces, and guest experiences. This blend of boutique-style service and contemporary amenities makes The Margot Hotel a premier choice in the competitive urban hospitality market of downtown San Diego.

The Margot Hotel is currently seeking to hire a proactive and market-savvy Group & Business Transient Sales Manager. This role is critical to establishing and expanding the hotel’s presence within the group and corporate business segments. The position emphasizes building foundational group and negotiated corporate business from scratch, especially important as the hotel is either in a pre-opening, conversion, or ramp-up stage aiming to increase its market share and revenue steadily. This sales manager will be responsible for driving revenue growth by soliciting new business, managing important corporate accounts, and handling key sales functions aligned with the hotel’s strategic goals. The candidate will be the face of the hotel to prospective clients and partners, actively engaging in networking, attending trade shows, and delivering persuasive presentations that highlight the hotel’s value.

This role involves a significant focus on the San Diego market and requires a professional with a minimum of two years of relevant hotel sales experience, preferably within group and business transient sales. Experience working with the Hilton brand is strongly preferred, as is familiarity with hotel CRM and sales systems such as Delphi/FDC. The ideal Group & Business Transient Sales Manager must have a strong track record of meeting or exceeding revenue goals along with excellent negotiation, presentation, and communication skills. This individual will collaborate closely with revenue management teams to optimize the business mix and participate in sales forecasting and strategic planning to ensure the hotel meets its ambitious revenue targets.

Compensation for this role is competitive, featuring a base salary ranging between $75,000 and $85,000, depending on experience, accompanied by a bonus incentive program tied directly to revenue achievements. The benefits package includes medical, dental, and vision insurance, paid time off, holidays, and a 401(k) plan with company match eligibility where applicable. Furthermore, the position offers growth opportunities within a growing hospitality organization, making it a compelling role for a motivated sales professional looking to advance their career within a reputable hotel franchise in an exciting urban location.

It is important to note that employment for this position is with the independent franchisee operating The Margot Hotel, not Hilton directly. As such, all employment decisions, compensation, benefits, and personnel policies are managed by the franchisee, ensuring a unique and locally controlled work environment. This distinction highlights the personalized approach to human resources combined with the operational standards of a leading hotel brand.
