Job Description

Greystar is a globally recognized, fully integrated real estate platform specializing in property management, investment management, development, and construction services primarily focused on institutional-quality rental housing. Headquartered in Charleston, South Carolina, Greystar boasts an expansive presence with operations in more than 265 markets across North America, Europe, South America, and the Asia-Pacific region. Managing over one million apartment units worldwide, it stands as the largest apartment operator in the United States, with approximately $300 billion of real estate under management. Their comprehensive services include nearly $79 billion in assets under management, spread across development assets and regulatory assets, underscoring their strength and stability within the global real estate industry. Founded in 1993 by Bob Faith, Greystar’s mission is to deliver world-class service across the rental residential market, consistently advancing the standards of property management and development.

This job opportunity is for a multi-site Maintenance Technician role supporting two residential communities—Yardly Steele Creek and Yardly City Park—located in Charlotte, North Carolina. These communities are comprised of single-family rental homes in the lease-up phase, with unit counts of 160 and 148 respectively. The position requires reliable transportation as the technician will be responsible for duties across both sites. Scheduled Monday through Friday, the role primarily focuses on maintaining the physical aspects of the community, ensuring the grounds, amenities, and overall curb appeal meet Greystar's high standards for resident satisfaction and safety.

The Maintenance Technician will be instrumental in inspecting community areas to keep them free of litter, debris, and pet waste, ensuring a clean, welcoming environment for residents and visitors. This role involves active participation in trash removal from vacant units before the make-ready process begins, as well as supporting minor and routine service requests as directed by supervisory staff. Lock changes, pool gate safety compliance, and the distribution of important communications to residents also form a significant part of daily responsibilities. Safety remains a priority, with the technician expected to identify and report any hazards promptly, contribute to routine safety meetings, and maintain compliance with OSHA and other safety regulations.

Physical demands for this role include the ability to stand, walk, and sit for long periods, alongside performing tasks that require bending, stooping, ladder climbing, lifting up to 25 pounds independently, and carrying heavier objects with assistance. The ability to work under various weather conditions including rain, snow, and heat is necessary. Flexibility in scheduling, including availability for calls during evenings, weekends, and holidays, is essential to meet the operational needs of the communities served.

Compensation for this position ranges from $18.00 to $20.00 per hour, with additional bonuses available based on performance. Full-time employees enjoy robust benefits including competitive medical, dental, vision, disability, and life insurance plans, generous paid time off starting at 15 vacation days annually plus personal, sick, and holiday leave, and participation in a 401(k) program with company match after six months. Other perks include onsite housing discounts, paid sabbaticals, parental leave, fertility benefits, and employee assistance programs, reinforcing Greystar’s commitment to employee well-being and professional growth.
