This role focuses on groundskeeping within the Utilities Department, specifically supporting the maintenance of city parks, recreational areas, roadways, and other landscaped regions tied to the utilities infrastructure. The Groundskeeper plays a crucial role in upholding the city's aesthetic and operational standards by performing routine and unskilled tasks involving grounds and landscaping maintenance. This includes maintaining parks, golf courses, sports fields, parkways, roadways, and other city-maintained landscaped areas. Under basic supervision, the incumbent will use various tools and power equipment to perform tasks such as mowing, litter removal, equipment repair, and plant care while adhering to safety protocols.

The Groundskeeper is integral in ensuring that city recreational and public areas remain safe, clean, and functional for residents and visitors alike. Responsibilities extend beyond maintenance to include responding to emergency situations, managing irrigation and control systems, and supporting city events by setting up and tearing down facilities. Individuals will also be expected to apply herbicides, pesticides, and fertilizers safely.
