Job Description
Horizon Air, a regional airline and subsidiary of Alaska Air Group, is committed to providing exceptional passenger experiences through its dedicated airport teams. These teams seamlessly coordinate activities to ensure guests and their belongings move smoothly from curb to cabin. Horizon Air prides itself on its inclusive and supportive work environment, embracing diversity and flexibility while fostering professional growth and development for all employees.
Our airport teams play an essential role in the airline's operations, whether working directly with customers or supporting behind-the-scenes processes. By fostering a culture of teamwork, safety, and customer-centric service, Horizon Air aims to create remarkable moments for travelers at every touchpoint. Employees are valued for their ability to think quickly, adapt to changing situations, and deliver excellent service to people from all walks of life.
The Ground Service Agent role is a vital part of Horizon Air’s operational success. This position is based at the Sacramento, CA airport location and offers a part-time regular employment opportunity with a starting hourly wage of $18.54. Ground Service Agents work in a fast-paced environment where their activities are critical to keeping flights running smoothly and safely. They perform essential tasks on the airport ramp, directly contributing to the turnaround of aircraft and overall guest satisfaction.
In this dynamic role, Ground Service Agents handle loading and unloading luggage and cargo, ensuring timely and accurate transport to various airport locations. They are responsible for distributing essential paperwork to flight crews, including fuel slips, load plans, cargo manifests, and flight releases. The position requires marshaling and pushing back aircraft safely, preparing weight and balance forms, and verifying load integrity through precise data entry.
Additionally, agents service aircraft with necessary tasks such as lavatory and potable water service, aircraft grooming, deicing, and security searches. Operating and driving various pieces of airport equipment such as belt-loaders, tugs, bag carts, lavatory carts, and deicing trucks is part of daily duties. In some cases, agents may also execute aircraft tow operations.
This role demands physical stamina, attention to detail, and strong communication skills, as agents must coordinate efficiently with team members and flight crews under time-sensitive conditions. The position offers the opportunity to participate in paid training that may require overnight travel and requires compliance with airport security clearance processes and certification programs.
Horizon Air provides a comprehensive total rewards package designed to support wellbeing, career development, and work-life balance. Benefits include free stand-by travel privileges across Alaska Airlines, Hawaiian Airlines, and Horizon Air, comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance, a generous 401k match program, annual bonuses, and paid time off, including holidays.
By joining Horizon Air as a Ground Service Agent, employees become part of a collaborative company committed to owning safety, doing the right thing, being caring and kind, and delivering performance. Candidates who thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment and value diversity and inclusion will find this an excellent opportunity for professional growth within the aviation industry.
