Job Description
SP Plus, a Metropolis company, is a pioneering artificial intelligence enterprise that focuses on providing innovative solutions for the real world, particularly revolutionizing the parking industry. Leveraging advanced computer vision technology, SP Plus enables seamless checkout-free parking experiences that eliminate the hassles commonly associated with traditional parking systems such as tickets, machines, mobile apps, or credit cards. This technological advancement allows customers to simply "drive in and drive out," making parking more convenient and efficient.
As the largest parking network across North America and Europe, SP Plus employs over 23,000 dedicated professionals who manage mobility operations at more than 4,000 locations. The company is committed to transforming the parking experience because it understands the critical role parking plays in everyday life—affecting communities, businesses, and individuals alike. SP Plus is not just modernizing parking; it's preparing to expand the technology to power checkout-free experiences in many other settings including workplaces, retail, and entertainment venues. Their vision is to make living, working, and playing more effortless by giving people back their most valuable asset—their time.
The Maintenance Technician role at SP Plus is a vital part of the operational framework that supports the company’s parking network. This position involves maintaining the holding lots and associated facilities to ensure a safe, clean, and environmentally friendly working environment for all personnel and authorized visitors. The technician operates with minimal supervision and is responsible for a variety of maintenance tasks aimed at preserving the integrity and functionality of the property. Duties include sweeping and mopping floors, emptying trash receptacles, cleaning surfaces, and servicing restrooms, driver rest areas, offices, and primary and secondary building structures located within holding lots.
An essential part of this role is the upkeep of the grounds surrounding the properties, including snow removal, landscaping tasks such as trimming shrubbery and grass, and applying sand or salt during inclement weather to ensure safety. The Maintenance Technician also identifies minor repairs, including replacing fixtures and bulbs, and promptly notifies supervisors regarding any significant maintenance or safety concerns. At times, responsibilities extend to terminal booth areas, where cleaning and maintenance services are required.
SP Plus prides itself on fostering a supportive work environment where team members assist each other and deliver excellent service to customers. Employees in this role should expect to contribute not only through their direct maintenance tasks but also by upholding high standards of professionalism and courtesy. This role demands physical stamina and the capability to work in varying weather conditions, often requiring long periods of standing and physical activity. The hourly wage for this position is $15.45, and employees are eligible to participate in a comprehensive benefits package.
At SP Plus, diversity, equity, and inclusion are at the heart of their hiring philosophy. The company is an equal opportunity employer dedicated to recruiting, hiring, and promoting employees without discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex, age, national origin, citizenship, marital status, sexual orientation, veteran status, disability, or any other protected category. Additionally, SP Plus adheres to ethical standards by not tolerating harassment or retaliation and by supporting employees’ rights under equal employment opportunity laws.
The Maintenance Technician role offers a compelling opportunity for individuals interested in a hands-on position within a leading technology-driven company dedicated to improving the parking industry and enhancing everyday experiences. This position is based in Charlotte, North Carolina, and may require flexibility to work various shifts, including nights and weekends, depending on business needs. Candidates should be prepared to meet the physical demands of the job and contribute to creating an exceptional environment for workers and customers alike.
