Job Description
Deer Valley Resort is a prestigious mountain resort located in the picturesque Wasatch Mountains of Utah, in the historic mining town of Park City. Known for its classic, consistent quality and a winning team culture, Deer Valley has evolved into a premier mountain ski destination that attracts visitors and staff from across the United States and around the globe. The resort boasts a diverse workforce comprising locals, transplants, seasonal workers from all 50 states, and international students, fostering an inclusive environment where every individual feels welcome, appreciated, and valued. Deer Valley Resort takes pride in its community, where whether you are 14 or 84 years old, there is a place for you in the Deer Valley family. This commitment is reflected by the fact that over 1,100 staff members celebrated their fifth season or more at Deer Valley last year, highlighting the attractive work environment and strong employee retention.
The resort offers a range of benefits tailored to seasonal and full-time staff, including ski perks such as Deer Valley season passes, free skiing or snowboarding at other Alterra Resorts, and select local Utah resorts. Additionally, employees enjoy friends and family ski discounts, free staff ski lessons, and discounted rentals during the winter season. Meals at staff dining rooms are subsidized, promoting convenience and affordability while on shift. Seasonal full-time employees have access to subsidized housing options to ease living arrangements during their employment period. Staff members also receive discounts at various local restaurants, shops, and service providers throughout Park City. Healthcare options are available, along with a 401k retirement plan that includes company matching contributions.
The role available at Deer Valley Resort is for a Cook II position based in The Grotto, an employee dining room dedicated to serving resort staff. This is a seasonal summer opportunity offering a pay rate of $22.50 per hour. As a Cook II, you will be responsible for assisting the sous chef with the daily preparation and presentation of menus that include high-quality specials, soups, stews, and chilies. This position requires a commitment to producing flavorful dishes that adhere to strict production standards and timing requirements.
Your role will be pivotal in executing recipes accurately and working closely with the sous chef and executive chef to develop new food selections to keep offerings fresh and appealing. You will maintain cleanliness and order on service lines, ensure food is well-stocked and appropriately garnished, and manage proper food storage and rotation to maintain freshness and minimize waste. Daily inventory completeness and assisting servers during peak hours are other important components of this role. The Cook II position requires physical endurance, including the ability to stand for long periods and to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
This opportunity is ideal for individuals seeking a dynamic work environment within a renowned resort that values its employees and offers a supportive team atmosphere. Deer Valley Resort is an equal opportunity employer committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace. Join the Deer Valley family and contribute to a team dedicated to excellence and delivering memorable experiences to both guests and fellow team members.
