Job Description

Deer Valley Resort is a renowned mountain ski resort located in the beautiful Wasatch Mountains of Utah, specifically in the historic mining town of Park City. Over the years, Park City has grown and transformed into a vibrant and diverse mountain ski destination that attracts visitors from all over the world. The resort itself prides itself on its classic and consistent quality of service, driven by a winning team culture. The staff at Deer Valley Resort consists of a varied and dynamic mix of locals, transplants, seasonal workers from all 50 states across the US, and international students from around the globe. This thriving diversity creates a warm and welcoming workforce environment, where everyone—regardless of their age or background—feels appreciated, valued, and an integral part of the Deer Valley family. In fact, over 1,100 staff members celebrated their fifth or more seasons with the resort last year, showcasing a strong culture of retention, employee satisfaction, and team spirit.

Deer Valley Resort offers a range of attractive benefits to its employees such as ski perks that may include a Deer Valley season pass, free skiing or riding privileges at other Alterra Resorts and select local Utah ski resorts, friends and family ski discounts, free staff ski lessons, and discounted rentals during the winter season. Seasonal full-time staff benefit from subsidized housing options, subsidized meals at Employee Dining Rooms while on shift, discounts at local restaurants, shops, and service providers, healthcare options, and access to a 401(k) retirement plan with company match. These benefits aim not only to support staff during their employment but also encourage a healthy work-life balance in the beautiful mountain setting.

The current opportunity is for a Cook II who will play a crucial role in supporting the sous chef with the preparation and presentation of the daily menus, focusing especially on high-quality specials, soups, stews, and chilies. The position is based in The Grotto, which is the employee dining room, reinforcing a commitment to providing delicious, nutritious, and well-prepared meals to the resort’s staff. This role is seasonal, specifically for the summer season, and offers competitive pay at $22.50 per hour.

As a Cook II at Deer Valley Resort, you will be tasked with producing flavorful dishes that adhere to established production standards and time constraints. You will work closely with the sous chef and executive chef to cook dishes according to recipes and help develop new food selections. Maintaining cleanliness and order on service lines, changing pans as needed, ensuring that food selections are well-stocked and visually appealing, and properly storing and rotating food to ensure freshness and minimize waste will be key responsibilities. Additionally, you will be involved in completing daily inventories to track stock and assist servers during peak times as necessary. The role requires a proactive and collaborative attitude, with the flexibility to take on other duties as assigned to ensure smooth kitchen operations.

This position requires previous kitchen experience and the physical ability to stand for long periods and lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Working at Deer Valley Resort offers not only a chance to be part of a respected and award-winning team but also an opportunity to live and work in one of Utah’s most desirable resort towns. If you are passionate about quality cooking, love the mountains, and want to be part of a supportive and culturally rich community, Deer Valley Resort invites you to become part of their family and contribute to a consistent tradition of excellence.
