Grill Masters play an essential role in each restaurant’s success by ensuring every order is made with care and meets El Pollo Loco’s flame-grilled standards. They are responsible for proper food rotation, stock management, product inspection, and quality control, maintaining proper serving temperatures, and upholding a clean and sanitized work environment. This includes maintaining grills, tools, and storage areas. Training and experience in food service or customer service is preferred but not mandatory, as El Pollo Loco invests in training and developing its team members to succeed.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • ability to stand for long periods and perform physical tasks
  • good manual dexterity and coordination
  • ability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays
  • must meet health and safety standards
  • prior experience in food handling or kitchen environment is a plus

  • Previous experience in customer service or food service is preferred but not required

Job Duties

  • Prepare, marinate, season, cook, stock and rotate chicken and other grilled proteins according to company standards
  • receive orders, cut cooked chicken, and arrange proteins for proper presentation on the plate or in the applicable packaging apparatus
  • monitor holding time for grilled proteins and take corrective actions when hold time expires or when product quality fails to meet company standards
  • maintain and ensure that all cooked proteins are at proper serving temperature
  • inspect chicken and other raw proteins for acceptable quality standards prior to marinating or grilling
  • clean and sanitize the entire work area including all equipment, tools, storage containers, grills and hoods
