The current opportunity is for a full-time Grill Cook position located at CHS Laredo Medical Center in Laredo, Texas. This role is pivotal in preparing and serving food at the grill station, ensuring adherence to federal, state, and corporate food safety and quality standards. The Grill Cook will engage directly with customers, take and complete orders quickly and efficiently, and maintain the cleanliness and organization of the workstation. This position requires at least one year of grill cooking experience and offers a fixed pay rate of $15.00 per hour. Candidates will work flexible hours, with the specific schedule to be discussed during the interview process. Job Requirements

  • One year of previous grill cooking experience
  • Ability to work full-time with flexible schedule
  • Must be able to perform physical tasks including lifting and standing for long periods
  • Must comply with food safety and sanitation standards
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
  • Must be at least 18 years old

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • One year of previous grill cooking experience required
  • Knowledge of food safety regulations and sanitation standards
  • Ability to follow recipes and production standards
  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced team environment
  • Basic math skills for portion control and inventory tracking

Job Duties

  • Takes orders from customers and prepares items requiring short preparation
  • Completes orders from steam tables and serves customers at multiple stations
  • Serves customers in an efficient, friendly manner following established steps of service meeting outlined standards
  • Ensures food is at the correct temperature and is attractive and tasty
  • Tastes all prepared food items
  • Uses established ticket-collection procedures during service
  • Responsible for records from area worked during service periods
  • Uses approved recipes and production standards to ensure proper quality, serving temperatures and standard portion control
  • Carries pans, kettles and trays of food to and from workstations, stove and refrigerator in accordance with established safety standards
  • Stores foods in designated areas following standard wrapping, dating and food safety and rotation procedures
  • Cleans, sanitizes and maintains all assigned work areas, equipment and utensils to ensure sanitation standards are met
  • Resolves customer concerns and reports relevant information and concerns to supervisor
  • Attends in-service and safety meetings
  • Maintains good working relationships with coworkers, customers, administrators and managers
  • Performs job safely while maintaining a clean, safe work environment
  • Performs other duties as assigned
