As a grill cook at CAVA, you become an essential part of delivering an exceptional guest experience. This role is perfect for someone who has a passion for cooking mouthwatering food and wants to elevate their skills by preparing high-quality dishes that create loyal CAVA fans. The grill cook is a key player in the kitchen, responsible for maintaining food quality and consistency by following recipes and procedures and upholding food safety and sanitation standards. This position demands a hands-on approach, requiring the ability to multitask efficiently and maintain a clean and organized workspace at all times. The role is dynamic, physically active, and constantly in motion to ensure that guests receive mind-blowing meals every time.

The grill cook at CAVA also has the opportunity to cross-train across different areas of the restaurant, promoting rapid growth and versatility within the team. This fosters a deeper understanding of restaurant operations while enhancing the cook’s skill set. Physical stamina is necessary as the role involves standing or walking for entire shifts, bending, reaching overhead, handling kitchen equipment, working near open flames, and sometimes operating in varied temperature conditions. The company places a strong emphasis on safety and requires all team members to work in a manner that upholds safety standards and maintains near-constant communication.

Job Requirements

  • must be able to bend and reach overhead often
  • must possess dexterity to handle tongs, pots/pans, and other equipment
  • must be comfortable working in temperatures ranging from hot to cold
  • must be comfortable working near open flames
  • may be required to work in tight spaces
  • must maintain near constant communication with multiple people
  • close vision, distance vision, and peripheral vision is required
  • must be able to sit, squat and kneel occasionally
  • must be able to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner
  • may be required to occasionally work in outdoor weather conditions

Job Qualifications

  • high school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • previous experience in a kitchen or grill cook role is an asset
  • knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices
  • ability to follow recipes and standard operating procedures
  • strong communication and team collaboration skills
  • physical stamina to stand and work for extended periods
  • willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced environment

Job Duties

  • observe food safety, sanitation, and quality procedures
  • follow recipes and procedures to maintain food quality and consistency
