The Grill Cook role at CAVA is pivotal to the success and daily operations of each restaurant location. Grill Cooks are leaders in creating an exceptional guest experience by preparing mouthwatering food that consistently meets CAVA’s high standards for quality and flavor. This position offers an exciting opportunity for individuals passionate about cooking and eager to advance their culinary skills within a supportive and fast-paced environment. Grill Cooks are responsible for maintaining food safety, sanitation, and quality procedures, following standardized recipes, and ensuring consistency in every dish that leaves the kitchen. This role demands agility and readiness to work throughout the entire shift, often involving standing or walking for extended periods and handling deliveries and restocking. As highly adaptable team members, Grill Cooks have opportunities for cross-training to expand their expertise across various kitchen stations.

The physical requirements for this role include comfort with working near open flames, managing kitchen equipment, bending and reaching regularly, and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Grill Cooks must possess strong communication skills to coordinate effectively with team members and maintain a safe and organized kitchen environment. Job Requirements

  • Must be able to bend and reach overhead often
  • Must possess dexterity to handle tongs, pots/pans, and other equipment
  • Must be comfortable working in temperatures ranging from hot to cold
  • Must be comfortable working near open flames
  • May be required to work in tight spaces
  • Must maintain near constant communication with multiple people
  • Close vision, distance vision, and peripheral vision is required
  • Must be able to sit, squat and kneel occasionally
  • Must be able to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner
  • May be required to occasionally work in outdoor weather conditions

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience in a restaurant or kitchen environment is preferred
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced setting
  • Passion for food quality and guest satisfaction
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new tasks
  • Ability to work well in a team environment

Job Duties

  • Observe food safety, sanitation, and quality procedures
  • Follow recipes and procedures to maintain food quality and consistency
  • Adhere to safety and sanitation procedures and all CAVA standards
  • Restock cook stations and keep them clean and organized
  • Stand and/or walk for an entire shift
  • Deliver mind-blowing meals to guests
  • Put deliveries away and assist with additional duties
  • Cross train across the restaurant to ensure rapid growth
  • Stand for long periods and lift up to 50 pounds
  • Assist with any additional duties assigned
