As a leading healthcare provider, Ochsner Health values the dedication of its employees who are the cornerstone of its success. Whether directly engaging with patients or supporting the operations behind the scenes, every team member contributes meaningfully to the organization's mission to serve, heal, lead, educate, and innovate. Ochsner Health fosters an environment that encourages professional growth, inclusivity, and continuous improvement, aimed at delivering outstanding healthcare experiences.

The role of a Patient Greeter at Ochsner Health is vital in creating a positive first impression and ensuring a welcoming atmosphere for patients, family members, and visitors as they arrive at the facility. This position operates primarily during the evening shift from 9 PM to 5 AM, Monday through Friday, with weekend shifts from 1 PM to 9 PM, demonstrating the critical nature of patient engagement at all hours. The Patient Greeter is responsible for greeting individuals courteously, assisting patients safely in and out of vehicles, and directing them accurately to the appropriate departments. This role demands excellent interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively with patients of diverse backgrounds and needs, ensuring their comfort and understanding during the visit.

Moreover, the Patient Greeter works closely with volunteers and medical personnel to maintain the availability of essential equipment such as wheelchairs, keeping entrances clean and orderly to facilitate a smooth and safe patient flow. Adaptability is key, as the role requires sensitivity to the specific needs of different patient populations, respecting privacy, and adjusting communication styles accordingly. This position involves physical demands such as standing for prolonged periods, stooping, bending, and occasional heavy lifting exceeding 100 pounds, requiring individuals to be physically capable and vigilant regarding safety protocols.

Ochsner Health is dedicated to compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as accreditation standards, ensuring a safe and ethical working environment. The organization supports its employees through ongoing personnel development, training, and adherence to its Compliance & Privacy Program and Standards of Conduct. This role not only contributes to patient care excellence but also embodies Ochsner's values by promoting a respectful and professional environment that supports the overall health system's integrity and reputation.

With no prior experience required, this position offers an excellent opportunity for individuals who are looking to start or grow their career in healthcare. It emphasizes the importance of good judgment, telephone skills, and the ability to read and write to communicate instructions effectively. Ochsner Health is an equal opportunity employer dedicated to diversity and inclusion, providing fair consideration to all qualified applicants regardless of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, veteran status, or disability.
