Job Description

Alamo Drafthouse Cinema is a unique and celebrated entertainment company known for its innovative approach to moviegoing. Established with the mission to provide guests with an exceptional cinema experience, Alamo Drafthouse combines film, food, and community in its theaters to create an immersive environment that is unlike any other in the industry. Located at 2548 Central Park Ave, Yonkers, New York, Alamo Drafthouse is committed to ensuring that every guest and teammate has an awesome experience and is excited to come back. With its emphasis on hospitality, specialty programming, and guest satisfaction, Alamo Drafthouse has carved out a distinctive niche in the cinema world by blending quality food and drink service with a passion for movies and community engagement.

The Greeter role at Alamo Drafthouse Cinema is a vital guest-facing position responsible for welcoming and assisting guests throughout their visit. The role offers a compensation range of $11.35 to $16.35 per hour and is a temporary, in-person position based in Yonkers, New York. Greeters are essential to maintaining the high standards and core values that distinguish Alamo Drafthouse. They greet guests, assist with ticket purchases and questions, introduce films and specialty programming, and ensure that all guests have a seamless and enjoyable experience. This position requires flexibility, guest-focus, and a strong knowledge of the cinema's offerings, including food menus, allergens, and safety standards.

A day in the life of a Greeter involves more than just saying hello to guests; it is about creating an environment where guests feel valued and excited about their visit. Greeters manage point-of-sale systems, conduct food quality checks, deliver orders to the correct seats, and handle guest seating arrangements while adhering to ADA standards for accessibility. They are also responsible for safe alcohol service, monitoring guest consumption and checking IDs in accordance with local laws.

Additionally, Greeters actively listen and respond to guest feedback, maintaining a calm and courteous demeanor even in challenging situations. They act as first responders to guest complaints and work collaboratively with managers and production staff to resolve issues quickly while upholding the brand’s reputation. Their duties include maintaining the cleanliness of the theater, lobby, and restrooms, stocking supplies, and assisting in opening and closing tasks.

Alamo Drafthouse’s core values—Do The Right Thing, Foster Community, Boldly Go, and Give A Sh!t—are embodied by Greeters, ensuring that every interaction contributes positively to the community atmosphere and fosters a culture of respect, innovation, and excellence. The cinema values individuality and encourages team members to bring their authentic selves to work while engaging enthusiastically with guests.

Beyond the typical responsibilities, Greeters at Alamo Drafthouse enjoy numerous benefits including free movies and food, paid time off, competitive pay, and flexible scheduling. Medical, dental, vision, flexible spending accounts, health savings accounts, and voluntary benefits are provided for both full-time and part-time employees, highlighting the company’s commitment to employee well-being. The role also offers participation in a tip-sharing program that supports both front-of-house and back-of-house teams.

For individuals passionate about hospitality, movies, and community service, the Greeter position at Alamo Drafthouse Cinema offers a dynamic and rewarding work environment that values teamwork and customer satisfaction. The company encourages people with a criminal record to apply and fosters an inclusive workplace where diversity is celebrated. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop their skills in customer service while being part of an innovative cinema brand that puts the guest experience at the forefront.
