This job opening is for a maintenance employee, a critical role that supports the overall upkeep and aesthetic appeal of the golf course. The maintenance employee is responsible for various landscaping duties around the clubhouses, parking lots, tee boxes, and primarily for maintaining the golf course grounds. This is a hands-on position that requires working outdoors in various weather conditions while operating and maintaining several types of lawn and landscaping equipment. The employee will contribute to keeping the course in excellent shape by mowing, trimming, sodding, verticutting, top dressing, dragging greens, and maintaining sand traps. Additionally, the role involves assisting with irrigation repairs and water line replacements as necessary.
Successful candidates must have knowledge of golf course maintenance techniques and an understanding of regulations concerning the use of fertilizers. The role demands proficiency in operating walking and riding mowers, rollers, bunker rakes, chainsaws, and other powered and non-powered hand tools. Physical stamina and the ability to perform repetitive tasks involving sitting, standing, walking, bending, crouching, and lifting heavy objects are essential. Moreover, the position requires the maintenance employee to work safely using protective gear such as masks, goggles, and gloves when handling machinery and chemicals.

Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience in golf course maintenance or related field
- Ability to operate lawn mowing and landscaping equipment safely and efficiently
- Knowledge of safety regulations and proper use of protective equipment
- Physical ability to perform manual labor in various weather conditions
- Valid driver’s license or ability to obtain one
- Ability to follow instructions and work independently or as part of a team
Job Qualifications
- Ability to read, write and perform basic mathematical calculations
- Knowledge of golf course maintenance techniques
- Knowledge of regulations regarding the use of fertilizers
- Skill in the use of equipment such as walking and riding greens mowers, tee mowers, fairway mowers, rough mowers, rollers, bunker rakes, carts, push mowers, chain saws and a variety of powered and non-powered hand tools
- Experience in a similar position for one to two years or completion of an apprenticeship or internship
- Possession of or ability to obtain a valid driver’s license
Job Duties
- Cut grass on tee boxes, fairways, roughs, fringes and greens using a tractor mower
- Maintain rough and areas surrounding the golf course
- Sod and trim on and around the golf course green, fairways and tees
- Verticut, top dress and drag greens
- Assist irrigators when needed in repairing irrigation leaks and replacing sprinkler heads and water lines
- Maintain sand traps by filling traps with sand, pumping water out of traps and spinning and raking the traps
- Remove trees, trim shrubs and weed flower beds
- Assist in over seeding greens and tees
- Perform custodial operations on golf course grounds and buildings including cleaning restrooms and the pro shop
- Perform other duties as assigned
