The Grants & Partnerships Manager position is a full-time, salaried exempt role within the Development Department, reporting directly to the Chief Development Officer. The Development Team handles the fundraising, events, revenue-generating partnerships, marketing efforts, and the vital work of supporting government contracts and grants. This managerial position is key to maintaining and expanding Orangewood Foundation’s grant portfolio and partnerships. Responsibilities include independently writing and managing grants, cultivating and stewarding relationships with institutional funders such as foundations, companies, and corporate foundations, and assisting with government grant applications and event sponsorship proposals. Additionally, the Grants & Partnerships Manager supports major gift proposal writing, impact reporting, and prospect research to identify new revenue streams.

Candidates for this role should demonstrate strong grant writing expertise, proven success in securing awards as the primary writer, and experience in relationship management and supervisory roles. This position offers a dynamic work environment combining remote and in-office work, where collaboration with various internal teams like Programs, Finance, and People & Culture is essential. Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, human services, education, public administration, or related field
  • Minimum of two years experience working with transitional age youth or similar populations
  • 3-5 years grant writing experience
  • 2+ years supervisory experience
  • 1-3 years applying for government grants and contracts
  • 1-2 years portfolio management and relationship building
  • Excellent writing and editing skills
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to communicate with diverse audiences
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Experience with Raisers Edge or similar CRM
  • Valid California driver’s license and automobile insurance
  • Pre-employment screenings including criminal background check, FBI/DOJ fingerprinting, TB test, drug screen, previous employment verification
  • Completion of Plum.io assessment as part of application

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Human Services, Education, Public Administration, or related field from an accredited college or university
  • Minimum of two years of experience in human services field working with transitional age youth or similar populations
  • 3-5 years of grant writing experience with proven track record securing grant awards as primary writer
  • 2+ years supervisory experience managing employees
  • 1-3 years experience applying for government grants and contracts
  • 1-2 years relationship-building and portfolio management experience
  • Excellent writing and editing skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of audiences
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Experience with CRM systems such as Raisers Edge
  • Possess valid California driver’s license and proof of automobile insurance

Job Duties

  • Write grants and manage a grant portfolio including independently writing, project managing, and submitting grant requests to foundations, companies, corporate foundations and government agencies
  • Develop and achieve the annual revenue goal for Foundation Grants
  • Steward and manage grantmaking relationships with a portfolio of institutional funders including foundations, companies, and government agencies
  • Project manage applications for government contracts and grants collaborating with internal and external partners to ensure timely and accurate submission and reporting
  • Supervise activities and output of the Grants Coordinator, delegate appropriate tasks ensuring accuracy and timeliness
  • Conduct ongoing prospect research to identify, cultivate, and solicit new revenue-generating opportunities and grow the grants portfolio
  • Develop, implement, and maintain effective systems for grants management, portfolio management, budgeting and revenue tracking including use of Raisers Edge
  • Support the Chief Development Officer in writing materials for Development Team including major gift proposals, impact reports, marketing and communications collateral, and sponsorship requests
  • Collaborate independently with internal partners across Programs, Finance, People & Culture, and Development teams to gather and maintain accurate data for grant submissions and reports
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisor
